PSA letting PSA Japan is cut in line

Don't know if anyone knows this, but PSA has a branch in Japan,
and it seems that PSA has been processing the orders in Japan faster than the ones sent directly to them.
Because of COVID, PSA Japan has shut down most of last year,
and reopened for submissions in October.
People who have sent in submissions in October(including bulks) have gotten their orders back as fast as December,
and some at the end of January 2021!
And again, people who have sent in November has gotten it back this month!
On the other hand, I have sent in directly to PSA US since last year August,
and Economy orders have been stuck in stage 4, Value and Quarters have been stuck in 3.
PSA kept saying that they were impacted by COVID and all kinds of reasons, while they were actually processing PSA Japan's orders.
So I think it is pretty obvious that PSA is letting PSA Japan's orders cut in line,
processing their's faster with a guaranteed turnaround time.

well they are customers too. and their psa office was closed for a year, right? our psa office pretty much stayed open and limped through it.

tough call to let them cut, but i don't really see too big of a problem here.

    our subs taking 9 months?
w psa japan closed for a year + 2 month line cut brings them to 14 months, right?

    Yeah, I get your point.
But their office was only closed for like 6 months?
And it's not just now, but PSA Japan always gets guaranteed turnaround times,
not to mention I am actually paying double the money with Economy service,
and waiting forever just to get 1 order back.

    Yeah, I get your point.

well, i would assume that there is more of a wait (off the books) than what you're seeing on paper. i've never subbed from my niigata ski shack, but similar to how psa sends packs to bbce for verification first, i would imagine packs weren't sent out on a daily basis. rather not until they fill up a trailer or hit a certain quota to reduce shipping expenses. then obviously it would be the same protocol coming back.

but back to japan's thingy, throw in a mandatory 72hr customs quarantine before agents can even inspect the load, then your typical customs clearance timeframe, then additional shipping from port to psa all before they technically logged in.

add it all up, multiply it by two and it's prolly a good 3 months that's not on paper keeping in mind that once the grades pop, it's another month to go back thru that entire exporting process before they actually get their cards in hand.

Maybe I misunderstand things (quite likely) but aren’t the PSA Japan orders processed and graded in Japan and the other PSA orders processed and graded in Cali ? If so, nobody is “cutting” anybody, they’re being processed at 2 different facilities on 2 different continents, by 2 different staffs.

If I’m wrong, and orders in Japan are then being shipped to the US, then I apologize.

I’m with DBesse27 so if he’s wrong then so am I but my line of thinking is they have their own facilities and staffs in Japan. Plus the only sport they like is baseball so that’s only 1/5 the amount of sports cards to grade 😂

  • PSA Japan only collects the orders in Japan,
then sends it to US for grading, just like everyone else.
The orders they sent back in Oct. 2020 came back to the customers' hands at the end of Dec. 2020.
So it's quite obvious that PSA is processing Japan's orders first.

  • People in Japan are sending in mainly game cards,
being mainly Yugioh, Pokemon, and Magic the Gathering.
In addition, each person is sending in bulk submissions,
    with a max of 300cards/person.
And they are getting it back super fast(2 months) and super cheap($10/card).
This is what makes me feel unfair.
