Payton rookie opinions.

Forum newbie. Reviewing cards I had as a kid, and trying to figure out if the grading & selling (should or shouldn't) is worth it. I have several, starting with this. Good to be flipping through cards again, even if it's virtual.
I'd never heard of PSA until 5 days ago, and this seems overwhelming. Any thoughts on this W Payton?

My opinion is that PSA 5 would be the top for this card, which would make it a $400 card (but prices seem to rising daily lately) if it received that grade. Would I send it in to be graded it if I had to pay $75 + shipping back to me....no, but when PSA memberships are available again I would include this, and possibly some of the others you say you have, in my free gradings for joining PSA.
Feel free to show some more of the cards you have.
Hey Fity55, what does a raw one sell on ebay? My initial thought was also a 5. With that centering, maybe selling raw is the best way to go. Basically like nam812 was eluding to, if you could sell it raw for $300, you'd pretty much make the same money and you wouldn't be risking all the time and hassle with going through the ebay channels.

Thanks. I figured 5/6 (also know I have no clue). Reviewing the grading PSA process this morning, it looked like anything under $2000 was not accepted anyway. That along with the expense and time delay, makes it a tough decision for me.
I have several good cards, but not 8-10s (in my opinion). Is it better to show them one post at a time?
Thanks again for the feedback.
This is your thread, do as you please. You will get lots of feedback from some very knowledgeable people.
Nice eye appeal, I agree with nam, PSA 5 at best.
Cards can be enjoyed in their raw form (non-graded) as well.
There is a solid non-graded market.
If your card has a special place in your collection, it would look great in a PSA holder
Yours is nicer than this PSA 4 completed sale
OK. Here are a few!:
. Again, no expectations on ratings.
And more:
I don't think any are grade worth except potentially the Payton and the Mantle. Mantle is a 1 I would guess but for peace of mind wouldn't look bad in a slab.
Payton is a nice card. His stuff is booming. He has been undervalued for a long time.
HOF SIGNED FOOTBALL RCS
Here are my very rough thoughts.
1963 Mantle - 2 ($200-ish)
1977 Murphy - 4.5 ($25-ish)
1966 Rose 5.5 ($100-ish)
1975 Yount - 3 ($25-ish)
1971 Bradshaw - 3 ($150-ish)
1971 Greene - 3 ($100-ish)
I sold this raw Payton recently. I think yours is as good or even nicer, mine had some small light surface wrinkles. With good photos and hype you could maybe get close to $400 without grading.
Thanks for sharing that @surfyfun, very helpful. Also to all the other comments. I better be care, I may learning something.
I don't understand this comment. Can you explain about the $2000?
@dalrex. Dumb mistake on my part. I was looking at appraisal pricing instead of grading.
Cool cards. They look a lot like the mid 1970s cards from my childhood collection. If you are looking to move them, you can try the BST forum on here or contact Greg Morris. He gets good prices for raw cards and is pretty much the go-to person for set builders. He probably won't accept everything you are showing but he would certainly list the Payton and even the '63 Mantle.
it is very nice centering on the payton rookie
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
