1989 Kevin Mitchell "ALCS" NLCS Bat Question
Greetings All--
I am thinking of dipping my toes into bat collecting because, well, I don't have enough hobbies. Haha. In any event, 1989 was a magical year for me in baseball living in the Bay Area. Kevin Mitchell is a favorite from the era.
With that in mind, I searched eBay today and found this bat:
So first thing I did after finding this was go back and watch film from the 1989 NLCS. From what I could see, I was unable to locate Mitchell using a Rawlings bat during the NLCS. Now granted, film is old and not every at bat presented as visible.
In any event, the foregoing combined with the mislabel on this "ALCS" instead of "NLCS" gives me pause. All told, I can't quite understand why this would be authenticated and given a grade of 9.5. All this is said from someone who is not even close to a bat expert but would like to learn. In any event, is there some folk out there with knowledge who can hopefully chime in on this? Thanks!
Matt

Well, I'm not about to doubt PSA on this, especially as the letter indicates they were suspicious so did extra work authenticating it.
Agree; I would however like more insight as I do not quite understand as I could not find any visual evidence. But again, I don't even know enough to be dangerous!
Maybe it was for batting practice. Piazza used Big Sticks for BP and then Mizuno for all the games.
