Anybody a WorthPoint subscriber?

Is it worth the fees?

I like the concept and the layout of their platform, but unless you are seriously in the business, their fees are a bit much for the casual collector.

Secondly, are there any alternates other than Ebay sold listing searches? Something that pulls together historical pricing data for the average Joe?

What say you?

They occasionally pop up for me in a search result with a price or two...and usually with some older results.
What's the benefit of subscribing? Supposedly...

I have a booth in an antique mall and every now and then I’ll find something rare that I can’t find a comp on. Inevitably, while searching google , the item will be there on worthpoint with the value hidden. I still can’t bring myself to pay their monthly fee.

I am in the business and have had a subscription for many years. I don’t see the point for anyone who is occasionally interested in using it since you are paying monthly fee

That's the point. If they had a "collectors" level pricing plan, I might be interested. Until then maybe a few interested parties could pool resources and get a group subscription together?

I would be in at $5 per month or less. Not so much at $25.

I've never subscribed... but have used the site to find out more info on some items, such as medals, etc.

I was looking into them a while back and one thing I found mentioned in several places on the intertubes is that it was hard to get it discontinued past the trial period for those who decided not to keep the service.

    FWIW...

I use it to find particular examples from prior sales; probably takes me way to much time searching but can't justify the subscription price.
