Why the sudden surge in prices?
I still can't believe graded cards are selling like hot commodity. I don't understand why especially during this epidemic. I sold most of my collection 15 years ago but decided to pick up a few Michael Jordan common graded cards in August that I use to have when I was younger. A 1991 UD SP1 PSA 9 which I bought for $50 a couple of months ago is now being sold for $400 on eBay. That's crazy so of course I'm going to sell it. Not that I need the money - I'm fortunate enough to have a job, my health, family but to be able to bank $300 in profit why not. The other Jordan cards that I got have also doubled/tripled in price too and I'm wondering if I should just sell it all and bank on the profit. Again the Jordan cards aren't rare or autographed but just regular common/insert cards from the 90s.
Granted some of the Yao Ming RC cards that I've held since the beginning I'm not going to sell since it's in my personal collection. Not sure if someone should kick some sense into me for saying that since I could net a good amount of money for them but the cards are somewhat rare/serial numbered unlike the Jordan cards. So why is there a sudden surge? I thought the price will drop last month but that wasn't the case. Wouldn't it be wise to just sell and buy them back down the road? Where do people have all this money since so many people are either laid off or not working.

No guarantee you will be buying them back cheaper.
being a teacher, this is where i would urge you to do your own research. several valid opinions on both sides of the aisle. information can be found quicker than what it took you to post the above. then, come back and let us know what opinion you formed w/o the bias here...
Trying to buy them back is like marrying the same woman twice. Seemed like a good idea at the time
If they have no sentimental value to you then they are just assets and every asset has its price. Heck almost every investment has a price. The trick is the timing. Sell too early and moan you didn’t wait. Sell to late and moan you didn’t sell.
Personally I’m getting out now and not looking back. Maybe I’ll cringe in 3 months that I sold too soon but I believe everything I have has it’s price. JMO

I bought a 1987 Fleer PSA 9 Larry Bird. It was a little over a year ago. That card is now $1,000 on eBay.
