Greatest wax packs on the market with all time greats.

Tell me some more wax packs that offer some of the greatest players that ever played the game.

We all know 86 fleer is an obvious one, but there are others.

For example, 1985 Topps hockey always has the Mario Lemieux rookie and the Wayne Gretzky in the same pack. Mario is first in the pack, and then Wayne two or three cards after. The two greatest points per game players in the history of the NHL.

What other packs are out there ?

Does 75 Topps have a Brett/Ryan pack ?
I don’t know of any baseball.

I’m sure football has a few too.

speaking of the bird/magic rc, there is another card that i am targeting, have been for a while actually, that has/will have 3 hof rookies on it. which i think would be a hobby 1st.

i hope more than that. i just sent this pack off to psa. buddy and i ripped a $5k box from steve at the national a few years back. pulled 2 rcs and this pack.

based on new prices being realized for the box, i'm trying to figure out if we were too drunk and stupid or genius.

89 Score Football - Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman, Tim Brown, Chris Carter, Michael Irvin, Thurman Thomas, Derrick Thomas, Bruce Matthews

Also a 84 Topps Football. So many HOFers in that group it's insane.

we weren't THAT drunk. no way we were opening the pack, esp being on the back most likely w wax rezi. obviously oc issues too.

1st thing we did was go thru and check the box for a pack showing rc.

THEN i think we downed our existing cocktails and mixed a few more celebratory toddies as we figured it was mostly a free box regardless what happened after that.

and all this was immediately after riding up the elevator w bill cartwright.

maybe the pack gods were trying to send us signals the whole time and i'm just now realizing it?

eta: i remember being very confused as it was the first time i really noticed the knicks name on the front wrapper looking for pack showing rcs. for a split, but very long second at the time, i seriously thought we got an arabic topps box or something, so maybe we were THAT drunk.

Whatever was in those cocktails served you well and the pack Gods can take more then they give so win win😀😀😃 I guess unopened is a sure bet!!!!😉

Watched an auction close tonight, Bird/Erving/Johnson PSA 7, for 5k. There were a couple of others a little higher grade but were PD, don't know where they ended up or if they sold. I have two, one graded BVG 7, another raw. I bought both as an ad on when I bought a Ryan rookie card 31 years ago. Still kick myself for not buying the Arron rookie card at the same time.

Aaron, Mays, and McCovey on the same leaders card in the 60’s iirc.

I'm not sure of sequencing nor if they were sold in wax packs or cello, but for my money is there a better year/set than 1956 topps ? 1975 topps would be next in my list due to having 4 hofer rookies. 89 score/pro set football - 82/84/86 topps football and 86 Fleer basketball as well as 2003 topps basketball.

Is 1956 Topps the only set with all of these legends ? If so, I don't think any other year measures up IMO.

    Ted Williams

1956 is a tough year for packs. Only about a half dozen cellos known and a few nickel wax. The penny pack is available but those are usually gum and wax stained.

I have a 1983 Topps Michigan Test pack with Wade Boggs showing on the back. I bought it at a card show in the 1980s but don't have any idea what it might be worth.

bosh MIGHT get in. been passed over once already.

the other card though, zero doubt.

James, Anthony, Wade. have a very fat stack of #jaw. heck, prolly the coolest card # bc it will be a jaw dropper once john q. public wakes up. also been scooping up sealed boxes.

wax & card is in very short supply when compared to others. not only that, it's an homage to the bird/magic topps. then factor in a hobby 1st w 3 hof rcs on one card AND being basketball? psht! to the moon, alice!

for complete transparency, there is the fleer traditions card as well. however, not action shots , generic draft day, olan mills backdrops and doesn't mimic the bird/magic. a good choice too, but not the one to hold, imo.
