Just interested in the rationale (not a critique): what justifies the price increase to $2500 when it sold for $800 in the Stacks auction?

Did you notice the date on the auction? (2013)
A lot can happen over 8 years to drive the price of a medal or token. Just look at Bolen material.

Not saying this is a good or bad price, but prices in exonumia shift wildly especially on unique or very rare pieces. Never as easy as picking up a '55 doubled die cent or a 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter, both of which are in published price guides.

I bought this privately several years ago and I was happy with the purchase given the grade and provenance.

It’s meant for a serious US medal exoumina collection .

    43mm !!
