I wonder what a FASC box would go for. I got one in a past BBCE CU forum group break for probably $1k.

I have one from that same case break. I'm guessing 10K now? It's become unfathomable.

I also have a non FASC 1980 Topps baseball cello box. Are cello boxes commensurate in value with wax boxes?

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

It will be interesting to see the close of the PWCC PSA-10 1980 Rickey Henderson RC. I still think it closes above $200k...
The Heritage Auction copy also now sits at $114k w/buyer's premium.

    Wow.
Personally, I would rather have a true Henderson rarity.
    Two of my favorites.

    Why is it called blackless?

No Black ink was printed on the front of a small amount of cards in 1982 Topps from A, B, and C sheets. The C sheets, which includes Henderson, are very tough to find.

    4 total graded by PSA.

An example of Murray (C sheet) in normal vs. Blackless.

I think the '83 box has room to move w/3 HOFs in the set including two w/incredible career batting averages for the time period: Gwynn .338 and Boggs .328. That box is a hold...especially FASC or Michigan test boxes.

i remember some dork on here saying this for who god knows how long in just about every thread i could possibly squeeze it into.

Yes, SS income cap going up, as is the age for payouts.

Yes system built on low rates, the only way you see high rates is if they have lost control. Which they won't because they will print to the sky and a happy meal will be 25 bucks. Protect the bondholders and system at any cost, literally.

No, none of this debt is getting paid back. Zero. That's what Cheney really meant.

I think that we paid $925 for the CU break FASC 1980 boxes.

I never did get a rack or vending box like I had planned. I did get a cello and super cello though. I don’t see myself selling them unless there is a likelihood for a better reentry point down the line. Put another way, is this price level truly the product of market manipulation? If so, then perhaps there will be a retrace of pricing. If there are real fundamentals supporting the increase, such as a surge in real and consistent demand, then I would be hung out
to dry by selling the 80T box short to buy back later.

It will get paid with inflated dollars. One thing that will hold interest rates down is the debt. They can't afford to let the interest rates get too high or servicing the debt will devour then entire federal budget.

Thanks. I didn't remember what we paid. We got some really great product over the years in those breaks. Hopefully a lot of you kept it sealed. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on the 1975 rack box break.

I may have an embarrassing record for ripping BBCE packs and boxes with most current value.

    2 - 75 mini boxes (pulled a Brett 8, paid $1,350 each lol)
    8 - 75 mini wax packs
    2 - 1970 Topps wax packs
2 - 78 Topps wax boxes (Dan knows these well!)
    2 77 OPC boxes
    3 78 OPC boxes
    2 79 OPC boxes
    1 80 Topps baseball box
    2 83 Topps wax boxes

Only saving grace is my cost was a fraction of today’s value.

balco don't feel bad. I ripped 3- 75 mini boxes, paid $1500 per box, cards were terribly off center
    but I just ripped away.
Just in the Rickey Henderson category alone................
A few years ago I had a bright idea, I would buy several Rickey rookie PSA 9's and submit them to
try to get a PSA 10. After culling a few I ended up with six PSA 9's and they were really nice looking. I sent the three that I thought were best to PSA and none got upgraded. So I gave up didn't send the others in and sold all six PSA 9's. My cost was right at $300 each. And sold them for right at $300 each. Should have just kept them. :(

I know the feeling. I ripped multiple 75 mini wax boxes while building my set though back then they were 1K a box, or even less right after the REA Conlon cases.

Nowadays, I would not rip anything like that anymore. Opening packs now is even more ill-advised than ever before (unless you are sponsoring a pack breaking enterprise) because even though the values of the cards themselves are much higher, the risk amount is insane with just as low odds of pulling anything to recoup your purchase price.

I believe the 2016 break for the 1980’s wax boxes was around $850-875 per box. Grabbed one pristine box and the actual case. Unfortunately I did not hold them and sold for a small profit a year later 😳

Hopefully people read my first post. Someone asked what Blackless was so I explained.
The 82 Blackless is one of Henderson's rarest cards, not just a grade opinion of a base card.

  • Sweet Jesus. Final price on that PSA 10, wait for it.....$180k. What the hell is going on?

Should be worth $18k right? That's just 10% of what a psa 10 Henderson is worth. :p
