So I've got one of these cards for in 7.5 grade, I've decided to move on from my soccer cards so I posted it for sale. Last week there were 2 auctions for 7.5's. One went for $5600 the other $8400. A pretty big gap so I listed it at 10K OBO figuring I'd hold out for something around 8400 instead of risking an auction. Fast forward to this week and an 8.5 auction just went off for over $20,000 and there's a PSA 6 with 4 days go go at over $5600.
How would you guys sell this card? I have no idea how to even price this card. Let things settle for a month and then try since it's so hot right now? Auction it? Wait for the 6 to finish and split the difference between the 6 and 8.5? I can't believe the price is changing so rapidly.

What's the concern with selling on my own? I started an ebay store to keep fees down
Buyers.
lionel joseph cards are still cheap!
For every card, there’s a grade where the price spikes. Additionally, half grades can be wild cards. I don’t think it’s unheard of for a PSA 8.5 to sell for double what a PSA 7 sells for, depending on the card. All this to say $10K doesn’t seem like an inaccurate price. HOWEVER in this market you don’t want to undersell yourself. Maybe start at $15K with a BO option. Just my opinion.

#1 John Hannah master set
Also collecting Andre Tippett, Patriots Greats' RCs, Dwight Evans, 1964 Venezuelan Topps, 1974 Topps Red Sox
FWIW, I sold a PSA 9 for $35k and two BGS 8.5's for $22k per each one a week ago in private sale, and I think very soon those prices will seem too low.
I think the 2004 Messi Mega Cracks in PSA 9 will be a $100k+ card. There is a PSA 9 for sale via PWCC at $53k with a day and a half to go - https://ebay.com/itm/2004-Panini-Sports-Mega-Cracks-La-Liga-Lionel-Messi-ROOKIE-RC-71-PSA-9-MINT/402692498304?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I think the PSA 10 Mega Cracks Messi has a chance to hit $1,000,000 before the '86 Jordan.
I know. It is crazy to watch this stuff. One day you feel like you made a ton of profit, and the next day you kick yourself for not waiting longer. Prices change more like day to day rather than week to week. I had been recommending on the board for many years that people try picking up as many Messi RC's as they can whenever the common threads would start on the topic of "I have $x to spend; what's the best card to buy?" I took my own advice as many times as I could afford it but still wish I had done more.
miwlvrn, it is times like these I wish I didn't have quite as broad a collection. Having a budget meant I did not pursue multiple copies of many players and sadly Messi was one of those players. I bought my PSA 9 Mega Cracks RC for $511 in June 2015, really wish I had bought several since he is/was my favorite soccer player.

With a volatile item like this, it doesn't seem to be much harm in listing it for a week or two at a high BIN/BO and seeing what happens. I would not, as another said, be worried to sell it on eBay. If you get no action after that time, you could consider lowering the price and waiting. I would not auction something like that.

Hi - I’m new to soccer collecting. I see there are a few Messi Mega Cracks from his rookie year. Which are the most desired? Is there a ranking of which are the best to own?
I bought 2 of these from spain about 8 years ago for about 50 bucks. One was mint the other was in rough shape. I got one graded and it got a 9. The other I just sold on eBay for peanuts. I sold the 9 for 500 bucks to a board member. Then I bought a Psa 8 for my personal collection for 200. At the time I thought I was a genius. I sold my entire collection in June because I wasn’t really buying anything new and prices seemed to be ridiculous to me. I sold the 8 for 5400 and was thrilled at the time. Seeing the current prices of these cards sure makes me want swan dive off a bridge lol. Who knows when this bubble will burst. Congrats to everyone that held on. I never collected for the money. I just enjoyed the hobby. Still sucks to think how much money I left on the table

I feel you! Summer of 2018 I sold around half of my collection on PWCC for about 10K to complete my basement. It consisted of other nice cards but the highlights kill me; 1958 Topps Jim Brown Rookie PSA 7, 1980 Bird/Magic/Erving Rookie PSA 8, 1954 Topps Hank Aaron Rookie SGC 5.5, 1969 Topps Kareem Rookie PSA 7, and a 1989 UD Griffey Rookie PSA 10.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
Thanks for the reply. Why are the Catalan versions so much more desired than the Spanish versions?
Print run? Survival percentage?
They made far less of them, and then they were regionally distributed only in the portion of Spain where everyone likes Barca. No one wanted Messi in Madrid for example. (Try reading up on the history of El Clasico to better understand this). So, the Spanish ones were more widely produced and distributed, and also less often saved by collectors but instead made available.
Good luck with that card. Messi is a great player, but a poor team leader. Xavi and Iniesta was the engine behind all those Barcelona championships. Messi on Argentina was a failure. He had a golden chance against Germany and couldn't rally the troops, or do to Germany what Maradona did to England. Maradona carried Argentina on his back in that World Cup. Messi will never be able to do that for his country. Maradona cards should be worth more than Messi, even though Messi is a better guy than Maradona off the pitch, Maradona was better for his country on the pitch.
I wish I had a 10 on that one (71BIS), but I do not. Argentina as a national squad was missing a lot of other team components than just what you describe too. Top to bottom, they just haven't been a strong collection of players.
