First submission and I'm nervous.
Sent my first submission in to PSA a few weeks ago. And I'm nervous.
But not because of PSA.
I had sent some other cards in to another grading company recently, and a fiasco ensued after one of the cards came back visibly
damaged (after leaving my hands in perfect condition).
So when I pulled this, I wanted to send it in, but I was leery. I had also never submitted to PSA.
I looked over the card with a magnifying glass to make sure there were no glaring deficiencies. Didn't see any, so I filled out the paperwork online, and followed the guidelines on how to package it and label the package. And sent it away.
It got there in 2 days and it's currently being graded.
But after my fiasco with the other company, I'm paranoid.
"Did I pack it well enough? Was the card secure enough in the package? did the box make it there ok? what if i missed something?"
I know I'm probably worrying over nothing.

Look on the bright side. Unless you paid a ton for expedited service, you can just forget about it for 8-12 months before it comes back!
I did the express service. So ill have it back rather quick.
As it's "only" a $1200 card in a 10, I'm guessing you sent it in under Express service? Hope you didn't pay $200 for super express.
More curious about the story on the other grading company submission that came back damaged.... give us the deets.
I did send express. NOT super express.
So, The other company.......
I sent 2 cards in. one an auto relic/15. the other a dual relic /99.
Both cards left me with no visible damage. (Have photos of them right before I packaged them.)
The /15 scored an 8.5, the /99 scored a 6.5 with a 5.5 edge score. That shocked me to say the least. I know it wasn't in that condition when it left.
The /15 came back in the same way it left. The /99 came back with a DENT in the top of the card.
I went ballistic and blasted them on Twitter.
After going back and forth with one of their salespeople for almost a week via email, and the USPS and then me being blamed for the damage, and them saying there was no damage when they received the card, all they offered me was a free grading.
I shipped in toploaders, then sealed in a team bag, then wrapped in bubblewrap.
Isn't this a $200 card?
Hard to see how the grading fee could be worth it.
The Lafreniere?
Ungraded sold for almost $400 last week and a PSA 10 sold for almost $900 last night.
I pulled it from the first of 2 packs of the product I opened.
Even with the grading, I only have $100 invested in the card. And if he lives up to his potential, then I make out if I decide to sell it.
Yuck! Had the same thing several years ago. They said they reviewed the tapes and nothing happened on their end. Got nothing. Sorry for the bad luck.
That's why I sent the Lafreniere to PSA. Wasn't going to trust the other company with it.
Am I missing something? COMC has a bundle for $180.

Am I missing something? I don't see a toploader in the entire thread.
The Lafreniere was sent in a cardsaver. The Hughes and the Mahovlich I sent it were both sent in toploaders, sealed in a team bag, then packaged and sent in.
"We are not responsible for damaged cards due to sweaty hands and mayonnaise fingers from lunch."
Sorry this happened to you. Wish companies would man up and admit to damage when they caused it.
Same thing happened to me with PSA last year. Sent off an mint card, came back a PSA 4!! corner was bent. Not when I sent it. I asked around on here and the consensus was ....... Better luck next time. It was only a $100 card so I decided to let it go.
And I understand that things happen. Not everything is going to go perfectly every single time.
Was just stating how it can be a little nerveracking to submit, let alone after the only other time I submitted (to someone else), a card cam back damaged.
the grading process could easily be filmed for quality control - especially on the express and super express , might make the grader a little more a cautious.
I think even a quick set of photos, front and back, emailed to you upon opening of the submission would be a good idea. And in the long run, how much more time would it add to the overall process? Link it to the bar code on the box. Scan the barcode, open the box, take the pics, send to the submitter. It would help both sides. It would provide piece of mind to the submitter, and would provide and extra layer of QC.
Unfortunately you're a minnow in a big ocean. Ding a few, its an assembly line casualty; not they're fault, it was the shipper
I know. Just wishful thinking, I guess.
Agreed
My grade popped on 2/11 and I was not disappointed. Worried for nothing.
Congratulations on hitting a 10, and now sock it away and watch his career.
