Started using the standard envelope and have shipped successfully 3 cards in toploader & team bag for .71cents and shipped 4 cards in toploader in team bag for .91cents with no issues.

This week, for some reason, my last 7 envelopes have failed to be scanned anywhere in the last 7 days. I am confused and shocked. Not sure if the post office is getting behind again or there is a delay in the system tracking?
Do you use the 1 ounce or 2 ounce option when buying the postage? I'm just trying to test the theory of the 1 ounce postage not getting scanned as often as 2 ounce postage.
@jeffcbay 5 of the packages were 1 oz, 2 were 2 oz, none were above that. One of the packages 2 oz was marked delivered over the weekend. The rest, still just say label printed. I'm so glad Ebay is has their seller protection on these but I wonder how they will be during the process. $20 insurance is covered by Ebay on these tracked envelopes. There is a claims process after 30 days. My concern is it just says label printed because there have not been any scans, at all on the rest of the packages.
These are horrible - If the card had value (the reason you bought) - it no longer does after going through the mail system! Already put in my first issue on damaged card!

I had 8 out of 50+ mailers disappear or be return/ scammed from Dec to early January with PWE and no option for tracking. That rate with the standard envelope w tracking is 1 out of 40 since. The local PO here isn't too worried about being dead on w the .25 inch and will let me know if I'm at 2 oz or 3oz etc on certain shipments so I can gauge what level of protection I amusing will still meet the weight limit. Also, none have been returned. I like it.
8 out of 50 is actually pretty good. I don't do PWE's anymore. I always estimated that 30% went "missing" and I'd have to give a refund.
I like it, but I don't like how they don't allow you to use it if the sale goes above $20. The buyer can even select it as an option, but if the price of the card was over $20, the option is greyed out. I don't understand the reasoning behind that. It's tracking, not insurance, and even if it was tied to insurance, I still don't get it. I just sold a couple cards for $25 and $30, and they wouldn't allow the standard envelope option I intended to use for those auctions.

How was it protected? CS1? Rigid top loader? Just trying to compare notes as to maybe help shippers in the future.

As a seller, if I list a card using the PWE shipping option and it happens to go over the $20 limit, I eat the extra $2 it costs to ship it in a bubble mailer. In my opinion that's the right thing to do anyway.

@alexhuffman The packages are indeed insured by Ebay for $20 max. Per the policy, sellers will be reimbursed if a package never arrives and Standard Envelope was used. I don't know if anyone has had success getting refunded yet though.

Notice he said from December to early January... the USPS was an absolute nightmare during that time.

The card was in a top loader with a thin cardboard cover. These are cheaper as the PO meters them. When they metered it, they ruined the card. Just got another today - same way!

My 30% rate of missing mail was years ago, not recently. Basically, when a buyer noticed that there was no tracking on their item, 30% of the time they decided to claim that it was never delivered and lost in the mail. I've used tracking for hundreds of items, and maybe one has been lost over the years.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue of a $.99 auction ending over $20, the buyer can still select and pay the Standard Envelope fee, but then the seller can't use it as it is grayed out but with the "buyer selected" notation.
To try and prevent this, when I list something, if I know that it will probably go for over $20, I don't put the STD Envelope option in the shipping options. The downside to this is buyers see the min shipping as $4, so for a thought to be low value card, some may bid based on the shipping coast.
If something sells for over $20 that had the option, if I'm watching it, when it ends I can quickly send an invoice with the proper shipping (my description says STD is only for sales under $20)
Shout out to the buyers who are leaving feedback on these purchases and confirming they received the card even though tracking isn't updating the last two weeks. It is a great sigh of relief to know some people still aren't out to get you in the hobby.
I bought a couple of cards and the seller used the service. Be aware the tracking as of a week ago, is a little off. I got an eBay notice my cards were delivered but I had nothing in my mail box. I guess it scanned at my local post office and was considered delivered. They showed up two days later to my mailbox. It also seemed to take longer, but it wasn’t a big deal. It was nice to get two cards to complete a set for less than $3 with tracking.

Yeah, the delivery "scan" is not based on any actuality. It is estimated on some amount of time from when the system believes it went out for delivery the first time. I'm guessing it would show delivered even if the mailman didn't even deliver mail to you that day (just had no mail for 2 days in a row, they put access not available on the packages that require scans, or ready for pickup)
I just shipped my first eBay standard order this morning and have two questions I am hoping someone can help me out with:
when I printed the label, it only came up as $0.51 and I did not see where I could change it to $0.71 or $0.91. How do I select $0.91 for future orders?
the lady at the Post Office had no idea how to scan the tracking information into the system. The tracking number was clearly listed in the upper left corner and there was a small bar code where the postage stamp would go. She checked with her supervisor and amazingly said "eBay tracks it, not us!". I am assuming my Post Office is incompetent, so do they have to manually enter the tracking code or do they scan the bar code ... or is it magic?
You can change the shipping cost by changing the max weight of the package to 2oz (.71) or 3oz(.91)
This is essentially as I understand it as well, there is not traditional USPS tracking. The tracking # is in a different format and number of digits, so I believe the idea that eBay is tracking it to be correct. How? Don't know. I did have one Standard Envelop w tracking not arrive, refunded the buyer and am told to go through the USPS insurance for a rebate/refund of my refund. Not sure it's worth the $3 or so for a low $ card.

_don't forget you get insurance automatically as well. I sent a few hundred and one got torn and delivered with no card. I filed the claim and all you have to do is send a screen shot of the buyers message in ebay and they deposited the claim in my paypal account a few days later.

Sounds like your hard pass went soft.
I've been cutting up cereal boxes and using the cardboard to sandwich the toploader and it ends up being under 2oz.

Agree ... thanks for your response, WP.
I think eBay will cover your refund, not USPS. Check the “You’re covered for Shipping Loss and Damage” section here: https://pages.ebay.com/sell/standarddelivery/termsofservice.html. And here’s the claim page: https://www.pip-claim.com/PIPClaim/eBayIntClaim/CreateeBayClaim
