I tried to divine precisely your point when I read this in the US Coin forum. I've now read it here, and am still scratching my head.

I spent $30 extra to see for myself and thought I would share with you and sorry you don't care about what happens with small submissions like this.

Gary - I always find it interesting and helpful , to see what luck other collectors have with PCGS Grading. It makes me realize that the bear is not the only creature seeming to get $crewed. Regards Bear

I'm with Russ, you cracked three coins, got 2 downgrades and 1 upgrade. And you disagree with the grading on 1 coin out of the other 10. So you're getting screwed how?

Do you know how easy it is to put a hairline on a proof coin while in transit -- cracking, handling, mailing, handling?

    Bear,

Looking at Gary's invoice, he disagrees with 4 of 13 coins, one in his favor image

Now looking at Gary's title, who's grumpy image

  • Keith,
You could be right, and wraping and bubble packing, could fail when taped securely and cause hairline cracks.

Makes one wish we could hand deliver coins to insure safe delivery.

First off I do want you to know I am not disagreeing with you.

I have my own frustrations with the whole slabing industry. I cannot tell you how many coins I have bought sight unseen and the coin received has been 1 to 2 grades overgraded and worse than something similar I have personally sent and received a lower grade!

But...Until a large enough crossection can be confirmed and the same processes being tracked at the "other" grading experts, it might just be the subjective nature of the beast.

Just think of the position they are in, they can create or eliminate value in minutes. I have often thought it would be neat to have access to the records which indicate for whom the coin was originally graded! Might really answer a few questions!

  • Ed,
Thanks for pointing that out, for the 68 was a lock to make 69,but the 69's that down graded 68 were border line and came from Power Dealer, but were the weakest 2 of 10 coins(my opinion!).

Confirm's that graders have bad days too! It would be nice to know witch day!

BJ,seems to have a moon thery that I need to read up on*^%$#@
