Sports Cards are the best investment I ever made

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share my story... I started buying sports cards in 2005, mostly to bond with my son who was 5 years old. I started to buy high end modern cards, mostly Bowman Chrome. I spent a fair amount of money and people thought I was insane. I focused my buying on established players rather than the prospects and my results have been consistently good. Once again not a fan of prospects- too hit or miss. But if you can buy Hall of Fame bound guys a few years from enshrinement I can’t see how you won’t get a great return on investment. Guys like Pujols, Verlander, David Ortiz, Lester, Trout, and Kershaw are gold right now. Just my 2 cents based on actual results.

    Welcome!
Thanks for sharing. Is your son still into collecting?
Cards are a great way to bond.

    I agree with your strategy.
Cards kinda accidentally became a big part of my portfolio....out pacing everything else.
Up or down, I don't care. I enjoy them too much

Spending time with your child is the best investment we ever make.
Agree with HOF collections opposed to speculative ones.

same here. it started as a fun endeavor of nostalgia but ended up being the same for us.

Amen to that. Some of the best memories of my life were during those years, going to card shows, opening cases...
