Assembling the short set of proof coins struck during the period of 1936 through 1942 may seem like a straightforward objective – and it is for the most part. However, there are a few interesting wrinkles that collectors will encounter with these proof coins along the way. There is, of course, the Type I and Type II varieties among the 1936 Proof Lincoln Cent, Buffalo Nickel, and some Mercury Dime coinage. But there are also some other interesting curiosities worth mentioning.

Terrific article. For those that read the above, but didn’t click on the hotlink to read the full short article, I suggest you read it all. As noted, it’s short, but also very interesting.

A phenomenal set! I haven't looked at the top four sets yet, because I'm still drooling over yours. I found the article you referenced to be interesting: I never knew there were satin finish 1936 Mercury dimes.
