Over 7K with over 2 days left. Are we looking at 10K? Pop reports shows 441 graded in 10. Looks like folks are holding on to this card with only two on ebay at this point.

that is an insane price to pay for a players card that might not get voted in by the writers just my opinion. as much as i think that barry bonds will make it in the hall of fame i just think he will have to wait until one of the communities vote him in. that might take him ten more years. just for the record i like bonds and wish i had the money to have a 86 high grade tiffany.
Now we are talking! I think this might cement my place at the top of the 1986 Tiffany traded registry set another couple years😀👍

I am very fortunate to own a few copies well before the run up. Compared to the 1986 Fleer Jordan PSA 10, this is a bargain, 200K vs. 10K ! Then again, Jordan is the king.
I can't wait for the 30/30 on Bonds and his giant melon.
Bonds is the king of baseball. He owns the record books. His cards will continue to go up in price. Doesn't matter if he makes the hall or not. Its a joke anyway.

Doesn't look perfectly centered left to right. For that kind of money I would need 50/50.
it's my opinion that today's collector/investors don't even care about hof entry. perhaps more importantly the process and the stuffy room of old folk that get to decide.
with 80s cards, we are hitting that age of nostalgia for guys like bonds, canseco, clemens, mattingly. sure certain elements of steroids clouded things for a while, but these kids (myself included) still remember these guys as giants among men. the '86d canseco was my childhood grail no matter how many balls bounced off his head or fingers he loses. and he has absolutely ZERO chance of getting in the hall. the '84 mattingly too. but just look at what these cards are doing lately. probably a little better percentage wise than '81 baines rookies.
a bigger element might also be that the overall negative perception of drug use is slowly fading away. mainly marijuana, but now many states allow things that folks are serving life sentences for just a decade ago. mix that with the absolute insane list of banned substances for mlb players that many of this generation use daily. adderall for instance.
i think today's collectors are deciding for themselves who gets into their own personal hof. the masses give two sh!ts about the old folks retirement home's hof. after all, it doesn't even have the all time hit or home run king enshrined in its own collection.
won't even get into the double standard "cheating" aspect of steroids vs what the astros did. apparently cheating is only considered cheating when certain people consider it cheating. and gambling? shoeless joe can't get in but we can have casino, fantasy league & sportsbook ads plastered over any & every possible space in a stadium and as every other commercial during the breaks?
Post of the year!

Auction is at $7,545.00 with one day to go. Nice post blurryface. So true on the new collectors deciding what to buy on their own personal HOF. The 1983 Topps Traded Strawberry and 1985 Topps Tiffany Hershisher are on my list.
Final price $8,645.00. This is basically now a 10K. Just amazing.
not quite. and not that i don't want it to be. technically though, it's not even a $9k card depending on the state or a resale certificate. also considering the auction house, not sure of that price point until i see a few others get close. may put one of mine up though to test the waters. i'd be ecstatic anywhere near that price point.
