1964D Penny grain like texture?

Good morning / afternoon chat. I stumbled across a 1964D Penny with an odd grain like texture. I’ve seen some of the 1983 and newer zinc pennies with zinc rot that look similar but does anyone have any idea on this 1964?

    Welcome to the forum! :)

It's a little hard to see texture from your photos.
Is the texture similar to either of these?

  • It does a little yes but there isn’t a smooth spot on this coin. Added another picture that might be a little better.

    Much better photo! :)

That effect is caused by a rotating wire wheel to buff or clean the coin. ;)

  • Looking at it that makes a lot of sense lol! 😊

Thanks for the response. I’ve got so many more coins that I’ve been keeping set aside for a good coin community like this.

    Thanks again 🤘

It's referred to as whizzing. Not good. Pmd. Peace Roy
