Greater appreciation potential- Tiger or Junior?

Overall and then for specific examples let’s say the 89UD in a PSA 10 vs the 01 UD Tiger in a PSA10

Not the 01 UD Tiger, several earlier desirable issues, perhaps. Tiger's are searching for a bottom right now after his latest back surgery announcement. I've seen a bunch of listings get pulled the past couple days.

ETA: Really depends on timeframe you're talking about too. 6 months, 1 year, 5 year, 10 year, etc.?

  • I'd suspect Griffey. Baseball has a much wider fan base than does golf and the Griffey card is an icon, both from a player perspective and the fact that upper deck ushered in the whole premium card aspect of the hobby.

Brian- agreed on some points but we are talking about the GOAT (or debatable GOAT) vs simply a great player. Tough to say.

I agree, Tiger is unique among golfers; a cultural phenomenon (whom countless non-golf fans know) as well as a one of the greatest of all time.

On the other hand, Griffey is unique: in an era besmirched by a litany of PED users, he was never suspected of impropriety; a larger than life presence, who, despite numerous injuries, put up some all-time great numbers, and did so in a sport which has a much larger audience than golf.

Agreed on all points! Guess we need to pick up both.

  • I suspect both RCs will appreciate over time.

agreed. tiger was a great player but i don't know ANYBODY that would debate that griffey jr. is considered the goat!

And just got my first bid retraction on one ... blocked user "jonhoffmann" for those who want to avoid playing games.

All junior needs is a Netflix special & the sky is the limit.
MJ of modern baseball? That swing was a thing of beauty.
Junior's personality certainly helps his case as well.
Topps traded & bowman Tiffanys will increase exponentially
