Got $3000 in Paypal...what to buy?

Suggestions... looking to hold item(s) for a while and see what they do. Older wax? vintage HOFers? New shiny stuff?

I'm selling all of my new shiny stuff and buying the other

  • emaremar Posts: 697 ✭✭✭✭

I wouldn't touch the shiny stuff with a 10' pole right now. It needs to cool off. Even some of the 80s & 90s
Fill some t206 & '33 Goudey holes. Lots of under-appreciated HOFers
Some have called Gehrig undervalued compared to Ruth.
I like the lower pops in the mid to mid/upper grades. Fewer realized prices = slow & steady growth

    1970 Oj Simpson PSA 9
I can see this being 10,000
ONly 116 PSA 9s and 1 ten which was just graded last year. That 10 when it ever goes for sale I bet sets a huge record and 9s will fallow.

I'd go for Mantle high grade...... not the obvious culprits however... but the AS (all star) shots which are cheaper ~ there are also the AL Home Run Leaders with he and MAris ~ I'm thinking of the 1961 card #44 .... PSA 9 is just over 1k on ebay currently..... 1964 Topps Giants MAntle PSA 9 are good value at around 4-5 hundred ~ AT LEAST THIS WEEK ,LOL...Those will get saturated and rise as his regular issues shoot thru the moon....I just saw a '68 Topps PSA 9 go for 16k ??? !! Good Grief.

2011 Topps Update Trout RC if you don’t have one already. You may have to toss in an extra 2 or 300 but worth it especially if you already got $3K ready to go. That or the 2018 Topps Acuna Bat Down in PSA 10.

    You won’t lose.

While I love this list the Basketball stuff has already exploded due to numerous reasons. I think the number one reason is it's international appeal.

I like the Jim Brown rookie. While I hope it's not for another 10 years his card will explode when he passes.

Successful coin BST transactions with Gerard and segoja.

Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.

Yes but they all still have a lot of room over the next 10 years. Jim Brown is creeping upwards it will continue to climb.

Did you decide on anything? Another is a PSA 7 1963 Rose. T3 Cobb PSA 1
Graded vintage wax is also always fun to hold in the long.

Cobb is a good option, but T3 would not be my choice. Instead I would go with the highest graded T206 Red Cobb you can find.

I couldn't agree more. Red Cobb (centered) in mid grade is hovering around $10k.
Cy young, speaker, and the big train great options too

I've been chasing Hank's RC for 10 years. This will blow up my budget.
    RIP, sorely missed by many

Well that didnt last more than a month. Never mind.
That is now what they want for 9s on ebay. Not sales but asking price now.
When i posted I think there were 3 listed for 3-3500 range.
