The 1922 no D is now a required item for the Lincoln Wheat Basic Set?

Who came up with this brilliant idea? The 22 no D is a variety and belongs in the variety sets.

Huh. That's a surprise to me. How long has it been in there? Even though I happen to have a fairly low-grade example currently (VG10), I agree with your take. It's a variety, despite looking like a 1922 "Plain" as we old-timers used to call it.
Kind regards,
George
Why did they do this? Not really happy with this change.
It was done yesterday. PCGS has only graded 65 in MS and no doubt many of those are duplicates. It doesn't belong in the basic set.
Even more curious, it has a weight of 1 just like a 1923-P cent. So having one is going to affect your rating very little, but not having one will keep you from 100% completion. Why bother?
Adding this to a Basic set is BS. The 22 no D is just a variety of the 1922-D. What’s next, having RPMs being required for a basic set? Why even have a variety set then?

I'm thinking it was a mistake, it was removed last night.
It hasn’t been removed from the basic toned set

You're right. Maybe they will get around to that one on Monday, shouldn't be in that set either.
The 1922 No D cents have been removed from all the basic set compositions that I checked according to one of my collector friends on Instagram. The coin was added in error and a PCGS coordinator apologized for its inclusion.
Kind regards,
George
Thanks for the link.
