Focusing on this one specifically. Ended last night! Interesting to see if it is paid for.
The other PSA 10’s are shooting up as you see above. Crazy!

Bids that end in '99' are always troubling, but the top two bids are '99' which is interesting. It appears to me those are shill bids and they were hoping for snipes at the end, but didn't get them.

Successful transactions on the BST boards with rtimmer, coincoins, gerard, tincup, tjm965, MMR, mission16, dirtygoldman, AUandAG, deadmunny, thedutymon, leadoff4, Kid4HOF03, BRI2327, colebear, mcholke, rpcolettrane, rockdjrw, publius, quik, kalinefan, Allen, JackWESQ, CON40, Griffeyfan2430, blue227, Tiggs2012, ndleo, CDsNuts, ve3rules, doh, MurphDawg, tennessebanker, and gene1978.
I saw it was the card with the most submissions to BGS.
I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/
Those last two look like they were the snipes... bidder that likes bids to end in 99, got outsniped.
I'm not a baseball guy, but would love to rip a box for fun. I see there are "low" series and "high" series boxes on Ebay. Both state Ken Griffey, Jr. RCs in the description. Are there better odds with the low series I would imagine? Any specific experiences with ripping? Just curious.
low series boxes just contain low series cards . High series boxes contain both low and high series. So Jr. is card #1. Hence better chance with low.
Thanks for the information. I guess the boxes that have the "NEW" across the bottom are the low series only? I also saw that factory sealed sets could be had for $130 or so. Would that be a better option to guarantee the rookie? Appreciate the time.
Yes, New is low only. Tough call on set vs. box. Set you get 1. box , you could get many, many or none. but make sure box or set has not been tampered with. Ask others here. Someone could tell you better than me. There may be a thread on this.
$55k? just beyond absurd. have a hard time believing this one.
I agree he'll be around for a long time....hopefully....but I don't think he's very accessible and doesn't do a lot of public signings, so it might be harder than you think to get him which would help keep prices high.
is he ud exclusive like jordan/lebron/gretzky?
Topps and UD from what I have seen.

I thought at one point he was UD exclusive along with Tiger and the ones you mentioned above.
sweet SIGNATURE though. i've seen alot most aren't as articulated and flamboyant as that one. ANYWAYS its making me think of grading mine. and i would like to ask about the chip off the hologram on the backside. would it, combined with the slight off centering backside, constitute a deduction?
There are many Topps autos now. I think he was UD exclusive at some point too. Here is one of many from Topps.

Two u.d. griffey auctions ending Sunday night. 1 with 160 watchers, the other with 188. Nosy bystanders?
I could never believe the high 10 population would support the $1500-$1800 level.
Interesting to see where he goes from here
Another 89 UD PSA 10 auto 10. This time at the vault asking $20k more than the sale mentioned above. Different Cert #.

Crazy people. Someone will pay $10K over previous sale
Yes, just a matter of time.

What amazing price jumps. Remember when PSA 10s were selling for $250 on any given day for a long stretch?
Forget those days now.
BST: Tennessebanker, Downtown1974, LarkinCollector, nendee
He’s a Tri-Star exclusive. He just did a private, send in signing back in November. Rookies carried a premium, maybe in the $300-$400 range if I recall.
No way I would pay that for the autographed rookie card even if I had that kind of money to invest. The new investors/collectors flooding the market since COVID struck are throwing crazy money at cards. Finding a decent deal for a Griffey is very challenging anymore.
The 89 UD Griffey has always been a popular iconic card since that set came out, even with the high PSA 10 POP. How long will the upturn on this card and many others continue, who know. I sure don't.
Get your Griffey TT, Donruss, Bowman, Fleer right now if you don't have one
They will be riding U.D. coattails
I have 2 sealed UD 1989 sets. At these prices, do you think I should unseal both or one of them? Sealed sets are going for $175 at most right now.
It even passed up the Trout. As it should have.

Odds are very low that you will get a 10, but 9’s are pulling in a few hundred now. Personally I would leave it sealed, but as the price keeps going up it makes it more tempting.

Leave them sealed, but that’s coming from someone who will never rip older stuff.
never rip, you will be dissapointed
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
So one sells in a PWCC auction for a stupid price with private bidding history and voila, a week later, there is one in the PWCC vault for 20k more. What an amazing coincidence!
Thanks for the feedback. I will leave them sealed!
Thanks for drawing attention to it. The set prices seemed to be a good value still compared to the Griffey 10/9 prices and box prices. Jumped on a few for speculative purposes. Seems like a relatively low cost safe bet considering all the other HOF/possible HOF rookies in there as well.
What's the coincidence?
If its a PWCC Auction does that automatically mean its a shill bid? I know if I was the lucky owner of one of these and see one sell for $50k, I'm sticking $100k on mine.
How true. The odds of pulling a 10 on a HOFer are next to nothing. I enjoy ripping old packs but I now get excited if I get a 10 period...regardless of the player since they’re are so few and far between.
I have been watching that one to see what happens.. depending what the PSA 10 does in value, it may be up to $8k in 6 days when this auction ends. In this market, I think no on the sale, but it is always yes.
Frankly, I just want his graded 1 and 3 from that set to fill a couple holes.

I think I know that guy
Tell that guy to break out the 1 and 2 and sell them to me.

He said, $8k and they're yours.
Lol, how ya making out with all your half grades?
It's gonna get interesting,
Probstein has one ending at midnight eastern. $5226 and 393 watchers.
Jr will be at $8000 by next week lol
just crazy numbers of what all griffey jr rookies in psa 10 are going for right now. i am glad i got my griffey tens a couple of years ago. i wish no i would have bought more then one upperdeck ten then i could cash in and sell one now.
I’m getting nervous that some of my factory set sellers haven’t shipped yet. Wondering if they’ll suddenly discover that they can’t find them, followed by a refund and relist.
You need to work on the negotiating skills with yourself.

It's not me, cl_kyle is my only eBay acct. It, perhaps, could be another poster in this thread though.
For half grades I need 1.5, 2.5 and 4.5. Yeah the sky is the limit on these! Jr is making the Jeter rookie pumping look like peanuts! All well deserved honestly.

Gotcha... perhaps it is... who here sells mini guitar picture frames. That is certainly a niche market. I wish them the best on the sale, fellow grade runner.

You can either bunt on this one or Horse it up, coughing up some serious nugent.
Yup. He knows where I live, that is the scary part.

i just cannot get over how much a 1989 bowman rookie in psa 10 is going for.
Jump on the bandwagon quick!
The U.D. is gonna bring the underclass Jr rookies along for the ride.
Yeah $700+ and no my friends that isn’t the tiffany! I’m as hardcore Griffey as it gets and I don’t like my 89 bowman that much. Pure insanity!!!!! I feel like I must have some sort of illness if I don’t sell it now!

I little bit lower pop than say, Topps Traded w/12,000
I've had a certain liking for all Bowman rookies.
Failed to buy from 4SC about 3 months ago for $225
