FSH: Redfield and Paramount dollars in original holders - ALL SOLD
All the coins are now sold.
Below are some Morgan and Peace dollars in their original Redfield Collection and Paramount holders for sale. The Paramount International Coin Corporation marketed coins from the famed Redfield Hoard and sold them at different grade levels. The grade levels were distinguished primarily by the color of the insert.
A little background ... black inserts were lower grade coins (Mint State 60) or coins not considered uncirculated (ungraded holder). Rare examples had the '60' grade covered by an embossed label of '63' before the holder was sealed.
Red inserts were for higher grade coins (Mint State 65). Very rare examples had the '65' grade covered by an embossed label of '67' before the holder was sealed.
Green inserts were for then highest quality coins and were given the grade of Mint State 65 Plus. Green holders are extremely rare and command quite a premium.

1898-O Paramount, black holder, labeled Mint State 63, lightly toned. This this a rare holder. Paramount placed an “old fashioned” embossed label with “63” over the grade. This was done late in the sales promotion to coins that Paramount felt graded better than “60,” but not quite “65.” The alternative of creating another holder for the “new” grade was too expensive. $SOLD
