1942 Washington Baseball Club Official Score Card Signed by Bob Feller

A neighbor asked me to go through some of her father's things and we found two 1942 Washington baseball scorecards. One is for a Senators-Yankees game (May 23, 1942...I believe) and the other is for a June 20, 1942 game between the Naval Training Station of Norfolk, VA, and the Camp Lee, Petersburg, VA team. Apparently Feller was involved with the Naval Training Station team. The program has the date June 20, 1942, written in fountain pen as well has Feller's signature. I know nothing about vintage baseball programs but see that they generally go for $25-$30. Would the Feller signature add any value to it?

If it were anyone other than Feller, perhaps. Much like Pete Rose, as one of the most prolific signers, it's often more difficult to find something not signed by him than auto'd.

Pete Rose had a lengthy line of collectors wanting his signature. “I’ve heard people joke, as they did for Bob Feller back in the day, that if there was an unsigned photo of him, it’s worth more money than a Rose-signed photo,” Mintz said.

Given how early it is, this one might add a few bucks, rather than detract.

If you wanted to have Feller sign something, you had to slip it in fast or else he might just sign the desk.
