1971-1985 Topps Steelers Run (Super Scan Heavy)

samspopsamspop Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭

This has been a labor of love and patience for the last several years. I have had intentions of posting this for several months, but finally got around to scanning. I'm posting for 2 reasons...1) to share with the board, which I have been fortunate to have been a member for many years, and 2) to ask for help in acquiring some of the missing cards. This project has slowed over the last year or so. I have had help from several board members, Matt Miller, Bobby Porter, willnbren, and Steel75. There have probably been others, but I have been working on this so long, that some of the info has faded. I will apologize in advance for the quality of the scans as all of the cards are in tight plastic PSA sleeves. Also, the crudeness of the cutout notes where cards are missing. That being said, here goes...

    Hi,
You have an amazing collection of Steelers; that is a work of Art.
I’d take the 75 Steelers defense over the 85 Bears defense in a hart/heart beat.
And I’m from south side Chicago.

Thanks for all of the comments! These have been fun sets to work on. I ultimately would like to be top 10 in all of these. Hoping my kid will appreciate them as much as me. I would like to see a few more of them get completed, but pricing and availability of a lot of the ones that are left is getting tough. I’ve got 8s in some of the cards after 1971, but would like to get them in 9s or better. Let me know if you can help fill some holes!

Takes me back to the pack ripping days when I was buying football. Always loved the AP cards better and the 1000 Yarder cards in 1977. The Steelers had no shortage of All Pros then either. Raiders and Vikes were my favorites, but enjoyed all of the cards too.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

I know this is an old post but just wanted to see how you are doing on the cards and to also meet one of the other Steelers collectors on the registry. See your name on there all the time. I’m davin72 and we are pretty close on a bunch of sets.

Great stuff GroceryRackPack and great to meet you Davin72…that’s a really nice run of cards that you have! The pickings have been slim the last few years to add to the sets or make improvements. I’ve done deals with several guys on the boards and am always looking, so let’s stay in touch as I’m always willing to help a fellow collector out.

Yeah I wish I would have seen this post a long time ago. There were a few cards I upgraded to a 10 that I could have helped you out with a 9. I already sold those tho. Yes finding these cards I need is getting harder and harder. You for sure have some very nice cards and quite a few that I wish I had. Lots of Steelers collectors out there that really drive up the prices now too. Hard to get anything at a decent price anymore.
