What's going on with the rims of this indian head cent

I have this coin with great detail, but has obvious issues. But the rims are huge and I don't know why? I'm sure it's not an error or anything just curious what may have caused this?

    a lot of times encased cents have rims like that

    If you can't swim you better stay in the boat.......

    ^^ I was gonna say, think "lucky penny" holder or something like that.

    MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.
