My new 81 Topps pick up

On a bit of a budget after Christmas and wanted to upgrade one of my sets. So I bought a cheaper 81 topps baseball set to combine with the one I have. Let me say, I’m not disappointed. So many sharp and centered cards. I wish there was a cheaper way to grade them. Guess they will sit in a binder for a while.

I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid.

nice Rickey and Pate rookie. Rickey thinks that Rickey is a 10
Wow, those look amazing. I’ve been ripping 81 Topps lately and I’m stunned at how bad the centering is. Maybe 1-2 cards per pack are well centered.
@DaveSpiwak,
I agree. I ripped some years ago and have went through maybe 3000 total cards to build my set. And most of the stars/hofers are a pain to find centered. I bought this cheap with low expectations and was shocked by how many were centered. It wasn't shipped very securely either, so again my expectations were low, and exceeded when I saw the Raines and the Rickey.

Whatever happened to good ol' Jack Perconte?
Nice 81’s. I seem to notice that Steve Carlton cards are always nicely centered. He must have had some pull at the Topps factory. !!
I ripped 21 racks recently, and contained the best centered cards yet I’ve come across! I have a sealed case of 81 vending that’s supposed to be coming by the end of January.. I’m hoping Steve will wrap, if I don’t bust em open first.. 😂
Fun fact: out of the 21 racks I ripped, NOT ONE Nolan Ryan.
I know it wasn't a real question but.....
In addition to his MLB career, Perconte has authored three books - "Creating a Season to Remember: The New Youth Sports Coaching Leadership Handbook"The Making of a Hitter- A Proven and Practical Step-by-Step Baseball Guide" and "Raising an Athlete- How to Instill Confidence, Build Skills and Inspire a Love of Sport". Jack turned to writing to further help athletes and parents have enjoyable baseball and sports’ experiences. Jack’s website gives advice on baseball. coaching and parenting. He has been a featured writer for Baseball the Magazine for 10 years.
Jack has run 11 marathons and continues to teach youth baseball and softball. A native of the Chicago area, as of 2019 Perconte lives in the nearby suburb of Lisle, Illinois.
Sounds like Mr. Perconte made out just fine.
He rocked in 84 for the Mariners as their starting 2B, but that would be his best year ever by far. 180 hits and a .294 average in 155 games. ROY Alvin Davis outshined him with his power though, as did fellow rookie Mark Langston with his impressive 17 win season for an otherwise dismal club.
Langston was a good pitcher. Wasn't he a lefty?
