Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I guess 2020 just had to grab another one on the way out the door.

Unbelievable. That's 7 members of the Hall of Fame taken this year along with countless other players who I cheered for during my childhood. As if I needed another confirmation that I am getting old!!

Tremendous, and tremendously underrated, pitcher. Should have won the Cy Young in 1974 and 1978, instead gets remembered as a little over .500 pitcher who never won a Cy Young Award. Phil's W/L record compared to his team's was in the same range as Carlton, Palmer, Perry and other contemporary HOF pitchers, but because he toiled for the Braves, and because CYA voters are morons, Niekro has mostly been relegated to the near-great class. Don't believe it - he was great!

Met him few years back to autograph my Milwaukee Braves Bat. A true gentleman.
I was a Braves fan growing up in the 60's and 70's. Phil Niekro was always one of my favorite players. RIP, Sir.
On the day he turned 34 (April 1, 1973) he had a grand total of 97 wins.
I'll never forget how great he was down the stretch in 1982 when the Braves needed him most.
