CRO has a spectacular EB today

spacehaydukespacehayduke Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭✭✭

The CRO EB today had some amazing coins, more amazing than normal. One of the prettiest VF bust quarters in existence. I managed to snag 2 dollar coins, but I responded in 2 minutes and a 3rd one I wanted was gone. If any of you are not on the email list for his EB, sign up, the eye candy is like no other.

One of the dollars I acquired was this lovely 75-CC trade dollar. I have always wanted a crusty trade dollar with a CC mintmark. John's description: "A crusty, original, coin-gray, CC piece with vivid teal blue and golden toning in the devices."

Can't wait to get it and image it.

Anyone else snag something in the EB?

Best, SH

No, but I thought this was way cool. It’s on hold now. Wish I would’ve looked at the price before hand. I’m curious what they were asking for it. It’s something that @Justacommeman would have liked and would have looked good in his skull themed token collection. Who knows...maybe he is the one who purchased it? He has always been a CRO proponent. It is graded MS 62. Love CRO's offerings, myself, and always look forward to the EB!!

I must be colorblind because I don't see the teal blue, however I do see an nice wholesome U.S. Trade Dollar. IS the toning on the reverse ?

It has low level elevation toning around the devices and inside the design on the Obv. Lovely coin with the CRO premium added.

The Bar Cent is pretty darn awesome. If I weren't distracted by older coins, it would be a great coin to add.

I did see that this morning and I'm glad it found a good home so quickly.
I can see the "...vivid teal blue and golden toning in the devices".
    Just a beautiful CC Trade.

A gorgeous 1826 O.118a in PCGS-58 CAC was offered ... and sold. I wish I collected AUs as it was NICE!

It is there rimming the devices in the fields. Not much and subtle, but it is there, I will work on getting it shown better with my images - lighting, tilt, etc.

Yeah, lots of really nice stuff today. I didn't chase anything this time, but was thinking about it. When I do miss out on something that is gone within 10 minutes, I use that as an indication that I have good taste.

Yup, the stuff I like never lasts. Someday; I will pull the trigger but you have to be FAST!! ;) John Agre does a good job of finding these gems and marketing them well. He has found a solid market niche and successful business model.....More power to him.

As I told another member today when he got one of the amazingly toned coins, just say you want it and do it quick, bc if you ask questions, someone else is already saying yes while you wait for an answer. You don't have time once they are posted, just be ready to react.

I was pretty interested in that Trade Dollar. You're lucky you got to it first. Good to see it going to a new home. Congrats!

I can not get their emails to go into my inbox instead of my promotions tab and it's driving me insane. They are saved as a contact, I've replied back and forth with them via email. When I notice them way too late in my promotions tab I move it to inbox. Still they show up there come on gmail take a hint I need to see it!

Drag it to your inbox. Then answer "yes" when gmail prompts whether you want all such mail to go there.

EDIT: Or create a filter to send all mail from CRO to your inbox. The former is faster.

Rumor had it there has been coins to make the list that were already sold. I have seen updates after major shows that contain coins both bought and sold at said show. Not insinuating anything other than the struggles to make a full list of such high quality coins

What I can add is that my impression is John does not like to do that. I have seen some of his coins he bought at shows, tried to pry them off him then and before an EB, and he would not sell them if he really wanted them in the EB. So I had to be like anyone else - be ready to hit the button when the EB appears.
