Chunky

A new purchase of a chunky 8 reale, 1704Y Felipe V Potosi, Calico 151-864.
Anyone else want to share a chunky?

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

@BustDMs thats a nice chunky one. I really enjoy these things. Especially when it takes a little research to attribute one with a missing date properly. Here is one of my recents. Spain, Toledo, 8 R. Circle M assayer. 1556-1598 ND. Ex. Peter Jones, MD.

PS I ordered his book due out Jan 1.

    Very cool!

  • A side-by-side of that Felipe II Toledo 8R and the 1704 Potosi would REALLY illustrate the "chunky" of the latter vs. the former... same weight standard, COMPLETELY different execution.
