Ya know how there are usually "ugly sweater" parties this time of year?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,253 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well, with covid and all the lockdowns, those aren't really happening, so how about an "Ugly Coin" thread?
Post a coin that has problems that YOU didn't cause and not a coin that you post as "ugly" just because it is naturally ugly (like, barber coinage, 1st spouse coins, prez bucks, etc)...but coins that actually have had something happen to them at some point in their life.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Here's one I have that I have kept in a box of things for about 10 years now, from back when I was roll searching. Not sure what happened to it, or even what it is, but it was weird enough to keep....

I found this in my 'youth' collection. Who am I, fifty-some years later, to tell that kid it wasn't worth keeping and that I'm going to throw it away?

My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.

I prefer to just start a new thread when I find a damaged coin.

There's always one in the crowd that thinks they're funny or special (usually, like this case, they aren't), and doesn't go along with the spirit of a thread. It's people like that, that can't start their own threads for what they want to post or to show how "witty"/"smart" they are, that keep many from bothering to post threads/coins anymore, like in the old days. I say that because it is what has kept me from many posts....just not worth it when people have to threadcrap because they can't be bothered to go with the spirit of a thread or to start their own threads.

I do appreciate the others though...truly some ugly coins :)

I really don't think this coin is ugly.

By his comment of "she did not look this way when I submitted her a couple years ago", I am thinking he may believe it is ugly because of the spotty toning on the obverse.....but, that is just my guess. I like the sac golden dollars, but I am thinking it is the splotchiness that he doesn't like (I hope actually.....)

More like calling out repeat "offenders" who want to ignore the spirit that others do things in order to get their own jollies.....you can always create your own threads and post your photos there and be "funny" all you want in those if you find it too difficult to enjoy what others are trying to do in their threads. ;)
