I found this stamp

I found this stamp in a journal of a preacher from the early 1900s. The stamp has two sides. The back is upside down from the front, but other than that they are identical. Any idea what this is?

    Two 2¢ cent stamps that are stuck together. Wow!

    Possibly tried to create an error stamp.

    Two stuck together stamps. Both damaged. It was probably caused by the stamps just being together back to back and sticking together due to humidity over time.
