I always thought it was a piece of misdirection. We never "went for a soda" in my day.
We went for a burn. We would roll up about 10 joints and pack into my buddies old 61 Tbird and drive around until they were gone
keep the windows rolled up you could cut the air with a knife

They used to play it on a classic rock station here in the early 90s. But here in MN/ND it should be Pop instead of Soda
