1980 Topps gum size question

I just got a pack from a legit source but the gum is definitely the smaller size you see from about 83 on. It’s definitely smaller gum than the 81 and 79 pack I have. And it appears to be smaller than the gum in my 1980 BB wax tray but I can’t tell because it’s in one of those nice bbce sleeves. It is however size as the 1980 FB packs I have.
A quick YouTube check showed pack openings with the larger gum.
Did the gum come in two sizes in 1980?

Can you post a pic of the gum on a card or some reference? 80 gum was smaller than 81 and 82, but larger than 83 on. Not to plug channel but we have a video where we open 80-87 packs from BBCE in order, and you can see the gum size differences year to year. 81 and 82 were relatively giant gum if I remember right!

I haven’t opened it. But I did line up a stick of gum from a 1990 bowman pack on top of both my 1980 FB and BB packs and it feels like they are the same size. Each pack was bought months apart from the same source.
Gum size for 1980 Topps baseball should be on the wider side. Topps used markedly skinnier sticks of gum later on in the 80s, which are commonly used by resealers as gum from 1980 is tougher to acquire.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Well that’s concerning. Thanks.
After looking further at YouTube I did find one video of three baseball packs being opened with the small gum. I also noticed that all the 1980 topps football pack opening videos had the small gum. Weird
