Market seasonality?

Does anyone have reliable data on whether card shopping activity tends to rise or fall in Dec/Jan? I feel like personally I always have a little more spare time, so I tend to hunt more - but I don't want to assume it's that way for a lot of collectors.

For baseball, previous years, I have noticed prices retreat a bit after Christmas and then ramp up closer to spring training.
I don't have the data to prove it; just an observation from years of collecting.

I usually have the same hiatus...broke from Christmas and exceeded a collecting budget the previous year

I think it depends on which sport. During each sports season is definitely more active than during their respective off-seasons.

I mostly only sell baseball and January is by far the slowest month. You're right in the middle of the off-season and football/basketball are in full swing. December is usually meh too, but you also have people buying Christmas gifts, so that helps bring December up a little.
