This is about to get interesting #2

Submitted 20 certified coins to GC for auction. Does anybody know how long the process takes. I received a notification of delivery on 11/23 but nothing since. TIA Mike
I'm back here because I was suspended AGAIN from NGC message boards for 7 days. You guys arent crybabies like they are over there, but the PCGS message boards were not loading right.

You're probably best off contacting GC directly, but when I submitted coins this summer, it took a couple of weeks between GC's receiving them and the listings going up. I think the auctions closed a few weeks after that, and I got paid about a month thereafter. FWIW.

p.S. Checking My GC -> Selling Activity might give you additional insight.

i haven't consigned to them in a while, not from lack of good experience but i do recall their menu options within you account showing pretty much all information you may need.

I sold a few with GC and they were very quick in loading my consignment into their system. I forget the length of time it took exactly but my recollection is I was surprised how little time it took before I got my sales proceeds.

it has been a year or 2 since I sent certified coins to them. It took 2-3 weeks before mine showed up as a listing closing in a couple weeks. Then another 3 weeks or so after close to get a check back. That was with them starting price so they all sold first time. If you put a higher reserves or start that does not sell the first time, will take longer.

Not sure if time has changed much since my last. I though I got an email from GC saying what they received.

I been selling my stuff thru them, usually, after a few days, you will get notification they have received, then depending on your auction time frame, they will start to work on getting them photo'd, listed. All this is pretty straight forward and accessible thru your account log in, and stage the process is in. If you have coins that either need potential reholder, upgrade, cac, they will discuss with you as well before listing. Once sold, I have found thier payments to be a little more timely, than indicated. I am sure that varies depending on what you sell.

Honestly, Ian is extremely professional and easy to work with and talk too, I would not hesitate to call him if you have a question. I always feel Like I might be bothering him if i have a question as busy as they are. but everytime gives me the answers I need and never makes me feel like Im a bother.

In my honest opinion, consigning thru GC was the best thing I could have done when I decided to liquidate my stuff.
Service thus far has been nothing short of exceptional. I am about 40% complete so far, looking forward to sending the rest here shortly.

Thank you Jdimmick. Yes they are exceptional people at GC. Now I'm wondering if any of mine are going to CAC.

Not unless you specifically indicated that you wanted them sent on the form. You might be able to arrange it with a phone call or email after the fact if you're so inclined.

I really wish people would stop trying to hide behind the military when others say things they don't like. This is the 2nd person, in 2 weeks, that has done that. Sad.

I, and MANY others here, ARE ex-military (and there have been members here that are/were current military as well).

Aside from that, I am choosing NOT to engage in this thread as I don't see a benefit....I just wanted to give my 2cents about my wish people would stop trying to use the military bit to hide behind.

I explained to several members over there what I have going on. PTSD brothers. If any of my fellow military brothers and sisters here have been knee deep like I have, much respect. I do not want to discuss this any further.

Thank you coinjunkie. Much appreciated. I did not specify CAC on my 2 forms. Geez my forms are dated 11/15. GC received 11/23. I sat on them for a few days.

I love GC! Typically takes 2-3 weeks to get them going live once they receive them. Pictures must be taken and listings started. I have found that if I have a question, they are very quick to respond. Often, the boss himself will email me, which I think is beyond amazing!

UPDATE Auctioned 3 quarters for $131.00 January 10th at Great Collections. Haven't been paid yet. I have been dealing with them since November 18th. I'm not going to use them in the future or any auction house. My best advice is to try to find a decent coin shop in your area if you ever need to liquidate your coin collection.

It sounds like the real problem is that your expectations regarding the timeline of the auction & payment were unrealistic. If you think GC is slow, it’s not uncommon for a transaction with the big auction houses to take 4-5 months from the initiation of a consignment to final payment. For most of us, GC does their job quickly, and efficiently.

Depending on what you’re selling and your level of patience, you may very well be better off selling to a local coin shop. For some items, auction is a far better route. As always, IT DEPENDS ON THE COINS!

    Thanks Bryce.
