FS: Carson City Mint No. 1 - Lake Tahoe Commemorative Coin

Hello All,

The Lake Tahoe Commemorative Coin is a new collector’s coin that might be of interest to this forum. The coin celebrates Lake Tahoe, the Jewel of the Sierra, and features a silhouette of the lake on the front and custom artwork on the back. Each coin is one half troy ounce of .999 fine silver and 30 mm in diameter. Coins are enclosed in air-tite holders directly after minting to preserve the high quality.

Only 1,645 will be minted at the Nevada State Museum on historic Mint No. 1 (1,645 is the depth in feet of Lake Tahoe).

Tom Rogers, former U.S. Mint sculptor and engraver and award-winning coin and medal designer, created the plaster model for the coin, and it was the first time he transferred artwork to plaster using an image produced by bathymetry, highlighting the bottom of Lake Tahoe. This makes the Lake Tahoe coin genuinely unique.

The coins are available with a minimum donation of $125 to the Lake Tahoe Commemorative Coin Environmental Education Fund, which supports environmental education programs. Coins will be shipped beginning the first week of December.

To purchase the coin, visit trpa.org/coin. Credit card and check accepted. Message me with any questions you have.
