I use auction catalogues mainly, in this case Steven Album.. The weight of this piece is within the range of Spades during this short period of Wang Mang in the Xin Dynasty. These are found in hoards or sometimes in tombs. The calligraphy is correct for the spade. The hole is very crude. These are kinda common for this time period.
Steve Album has a well respected expert on staff. Chinese coins from his firm can be trusted as authentic.

I like these but am terrified of forgeries. I did buy a small selection of modern replicas from China for reference.
