question about Registry

In browsing the registry l came across a discrepancy involving a card listed that l know could not possibly be anyone else's set ( pop 1 ) , and of course it was the only card without a photo. What safeguards are in place to ensure that the cards listed in a set are indeed in the owners possession . thanks

  • To answer bluntly, none. The only way it would be questioned was if someone else tried to add the card to their set, so it would leave the current "owner's" inventory.

I have seen a few times that people tried to add cards I had listed for sale on ebay but that was very rarely, maybe twice in the last 15 years.

Are you saying you own the only copy and it’s in somebody else’s set? If so, just add it to your inventory.

If it's in someone else's set you won't be able to add it without the other person removing it or sending proof to PSA that it is in your possession.

  • In my experience, when person number one has it in inventory and person number two adds, the card automatically moves to person number two's inventory unless number one calls PSA and provides scans. So, for all practical purposes you could add it and they can't stop it moving to your inventory. Then, if person number two tries to add it back, you will have to provide scans to "keep" it in your inventory.

However, I did not get the impression that the OP owns the card, only that he knows who does and believes the registry "owner" does not.

Right - l know for a fact that the registry set owner cannot have this card. But he shows it in his set - no picture of course. My point was does the serial number on the card not have to be entered for him to post the card to the Registry ? Seems like he was able to post it to the Reg. - no questions asked. Not cool , not fair.

If a cert is added under a registry participant it isn’t questioned unless another person tries to add it. It will be rejected and they send an email to the person for a request of removal. I believe you have to try three times and then you send front and back scans to the registry team and they will manually remove it.

They don’t randomly take cards out of your inventory just because someone else tries to add it.

This is exactly how it is supposed to work so that it is easy for people to add cards.

So, do you have the card? or how do you know the registry "owner" doesn't have it??

Yes it should be easy to post to the registry but having to also post a photo or the ID number is the least that could be done to bring some accountability into play.

If it's your card, it's very, very easy to get PSA to remove the card from the set of the guy that misappropriated the certification number. If it's not your card, then you seem to be the only person that cares that these supposed shenanigans are occurring. I wouldn't worry about it for one more second, in that case.
