I was just looking through my 1973 set and noticed this card. The photo is really striking and well composed. The Topps photogs were really getting it together at this point. Somehow this card eluded my notice until now.
And I love that 1973 design!! π

Now that you mention it....π
Topps has a long history of wiffs on cards. My favorite is the '72 Clemente
I don't believe Mr. Clemente agrees with the call.
How about a meek pop out?
Love those horizontal action shots!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Not the best choice Topps could have made for the '73 NL MVP! I am pretty sure he didn't exactly enhance the stat line with this one.
This set is loaded with great images. 74 too. The whole decade (except 70 & 72) is great for action images on cards. Two of my least favorite sets...coincidence?
I really need to take some time and look at the images in this set to see which ones I need to put in my collection. I already have the Corrales (sp?).
I love the 73s. The cards popped out at you when opening packs in 72 and 73. Even though Pete Rose looks like heβs holding a number 2 while going number 1.
