2020 Masters

no azaleas, no fans, yet i'm still so giddy i can't sleep

should be a very surreal, very bizarre Masters (College GameDay is even going to set up shop at ANGC on Saturday), but at the end of the day it's still a tradition unlike any other

who will win this unprecedented tournament is anyone's guess, and that's what's going to make it so epic

a stab certain to be wrong................Webb Simpson for the win

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Nothing like getting it started only to have it suspended before anyone can finish their second hole. Is Bryson using the 48" driver? I never saw confirmation one way or the other.

ETA: Give me some shares of DJ, he looked to shake off the COVID rust last week and should be in prime shape.

Webb is looking good right now, Tiger lurking two back.

    I'll pick Reed,Thomas.

Somebody forgot to let Augusta's web development team know that there would be people starting on the back 9 this year ...

    What a mess.

    62-yr-old Larry Mize with a 2-under 70

wish I could properly explain to those who have no concept of golf just how unreal that is

Yep, definitely would have expected more of a Couples/JMO/Lyle type score.

I heard he wasn’t; it apparently takes a lot of energy to swing that driver to get the most out of it. And he was concerned that swinging that over four days could diminish his stamina and energy especially on Sunday when it’s going to be most important.

we have been over this before it shouldn't take more than 1 swat per hole , especially now with the covid they shut the windmill down

Wish the leaders would be posted here, interested enough to open this thread to see who is
winning but not interested enough to find out myself.
    Quite the dilemma.

Yeah, finally caught on the broadcast that he'd stepped back to the 45",

I would have posted, but they didn't even finish round one yesterday after the weather delay early. Current top 10 and ties with some still wrapping up after an early start this morning ...

    Agreed.

Not sure I'll catch it exactly between R1 & R2, so here's the latest with a couple guys still wrapping up 18. DJ moves up to T1, Langer in the top 10 at 63 years old :o

I know that it is great for golf and for viewership if Tiger is still in it on a Saturday.

Caught it before R2 starts and going through top 20 to show that Phil is still in it too w/Finau, Rahm, and my extreme longshot Jazz ...

Kevin Na has the dubious distinction of being the first player to hit every green in regulation and still shoot over par with an opening round 73.

Absolutely, and the -4 ties for the lowest Tiger opening round at Augusta. That was back in 1997 when he went on to win by 12 strokes.

63-yr-old Bernhard Langer is currently tied for 28th and thus will make the cut

A little nod to Seve ...

"Kevin, can you explain that four putt?"
    "I miss. I miss. I miss. I make."

Mize and Bryson have some work to do to make the cut. R2 cut short by darkness again for some, but it's shaping up to be an exciting weekend with a lot of big names near the top of the leaderboard ...

unless larry legend pulls another rabbit out of his hat, i don't think he's going to live to play another 36. but he's still going to end up ahead of a number of guys who probably hit it 50-60 yards farther off the box, so that's still quite a feat

bryson caught a horrendous break on 3 today which ended up costing him as many as 4 shots. any other year and that never happens.

my pick faded a bit today, but he's got 4-5 feet for eagle to start his day tomorrow. dunks that and he's back in the conversation.

i know it's still early, but looking at the leaderboard as it stands gives me goosebumps. so good. i'll be firing up the keurig at 6:20 baby

Looks like Langer made the cut. I am definitely a fan, so I like it.

Edit to add: looks like a competitive weekend ahead.

Langer tore up the Champions tour for years. The courses are a bit shorter, the greens not as fast but still this guy can play. Congratulations

Great tournament. Happy for DJ. He's a fantastic player & I wouldn't be surprised if he won another 4 to 8 majors in the next eight years, since he's only 36.

His golf swing & temperament are in a company of an all-time great.

I have 11 uncut / un-separated SI for Kids golf cards of his that I bought for another player on it. His 2012 Upper Deck SP cards are hot right now...

    Enjoy your collection!
