This would be a great service. Hopefully for other small items too. I once took a chance with a military patch I sold and sent it in a PWE, free shipping with no tracking. The patch was worth 8 bucks so I didn't want to charge the usual $4 shipping on top. So being the nice guy, of course the buyer claims they never received it. Now I'm out the patch and the money. I refunded him and blocked him and chalked it up as a lesson learned.
"great news from ebay. now when you get scammed, it only costs you $.75 to get it shipped".
etsy has had this feature available for years.
This seems like an odd statement. Seems there would need to be some sort of proof of this to make that claim, but proving it is the dilemma. Obviously, w/o tracking, it is the word of the seller against the word of the buyer, but could some buyers actually not be receiving their items?
"Unscrupulous buyers have also been known to claim PWEs never showed up, demanding refunds that are usually granted by eBay."
I used to send out small inexpensive items in PWE's as well. About 30% of them claimed not received and I had to refund them. I was always surprised that 30% of the people would lie and cheat just to save a few bucks. As you may assume, I don't know if I've ever had a package with tracking lost, and I've probably sent 1,000 packages.
