***** RENEGING SELLER ALERT - I closed a deal at the exact price requested by the board member seller on his sealed gold privy coin. I then confirmed the deal in writing with the board member. The board member thereafter kept me posted on the shipping status of the coin from the Mint. Then, a few days ago, I received a message essentially telling me that he saw a higher price being offered and that it appeared he was leaving money on the table. He did not ship me the coin after the expected delivery date to him and when I followed up today on the status of my shipment, he informed me that he was keeping the coin.
This is not the way business should be conducted on the buy, sell, trade board. I have asked the seller to immediately reconsider his position and to honor his done deal with me.

I have known Wondercoin for 15+ years. Yes it started with a little deal then got bigger over the years and never once did we second guess his prices both what he offered nor what he charged. He pays fast, never worried about the check, delivers awesome coins and is really a great guy. Yes, we did business over the board/phone for a decade or so and then we had the privilege of meeting him and Mrs. Wondercoin in person! I cannot stress enough that he is a handshake deal guy and he honors his deal - something that is rare these days.
He never posts his price here. You want a price, call him, text him, message him, email him. He doesn't bite. if it doesn't work for you fine it doesn't - move on.
If you make a deal -** honor it**. I've made enough good and bad deals with both Wondercoin and others. That's the game you play here. Just like the stock market. Can't sell a stock on Friday and when the company gets bought out on Sunday you magically can get your shares back Monday, sorry. Wondercoin offers the best price the day, hour, minute you talk to him. No one has a crystal ball, not even him.
If you are here to make money, I suggest you have deep pockets and a long time horizon. Yes, I collect coins. Yes, I have made money on the and probably lost just as much too. But if you want a coin, and you want an "awesome" coin Wondercoin is the guy to get it from.
Full disclosure: Yes I will be buying a WW75 Gold from Wondercoin. We actually talked day of issue (for 2 hours) about where the price was, what we were willing to pay and made a deal. Is it a good deal? I don't know, don't care. I want the coin. Wondercoin asked me why and I told him straight up - "I thought it was a cool coin - something I hope to look back on in 20 years or so". I have enough coins still entombed in sealed USM boxes so to preserve their FS eligibility. I am still at heart a collector and this is something I want to collect!
I made a deal with this buyer. Not sure if I could have squeezed a few more dollars elsewhere but once the deal was reached I had no worries about changing market or trying to sell on ebay. Took my profits and slept easy. I wish more things in life went that smoothly.
If you posted your buy this wouldn’t happen. Your MO is to ask seller asking price first in the event it’s less than current value. No one gets called out for lowballing. Suck it up and move on.
I have dealt with wondercoin before and felt the transaction was fair. I think he made off better than I did, but that’s the name of the game and it happens. A deal is a deal.
With that said, I think it would be helpful to know what the offer was on the gold. For instance, if it was less than $9,500, the buyer was being ripped off in my opinion. If the buyer backed out in order to get $12,000, I’d say shame on the buyer. Just depends on if the original offer was fair. That’s the problem with not posting an actual offer for transparency. With that said, I agree with the sentiment of @JimTyler
Jc... FYI.. the price we agreed to on this coin was not less than $9,500, was more than the highest posted buy I had seen on these boards for the prior few days, and was exactly (to the penny) the asking price requested by the seller of the coin. And, the done deal was thereafter memorialized in writing as well.

Mitch (Wondercoins) has always been honest with his dealings.
No, he doesn't get into the "post the price so you can easily shop around for $5 more" bit, but anyone who has honestly dealt with him knows that he will quote you a price in a PM. He will also ask your price, but you are free to ask him his going price. I have done so and he has responded to the request with no hemming/hawing.
He has also, and this is why I give him credit, told me at different times (mint issues released) that the price I can get is better than he can/will do at that time and I should go the other route.....or if he isn't as interested, at that time, in what the issue is.
He didn't try to shortchange me, or screw with me, and wasn't rude about things in the least.
So, do I sell to Mitch with every issue I decide to flip? Nope. Is he someone I would hesitate, in the least, to deal with? Nope. Is he someone I would readily make a deal with in the future, again? Heck yes.
Those whining about the way he does his business (by not posting prices), need to pull their heads out of a certain nether region. It's his business practice and he stands by it, whether it hinders his business or not, as some WILL go elsewhere just because of that.
That all said, as a seller, I am a fan, also, of posted buy prices. I just don't let that chase me away from fair and honest sellers that may not post a price but will happily, and quickly, give you a price if you ask.
To end, I'm not sure if people are away of a somewhat recent time when people locked in deals with Mitch early, and the market went up pretty quickly before things even go inhand. Mitch, quietly if I recall, raised the amount he paid people to be more fair and equitable.
So, if you have to chase every last penny in your sale...well, go for it. If you want a fair price, and an honest person, you can't go wrong contacting Mitch and asking (and, there are other buyers on this board as well that do that type of thing, but this is Mitch's thread, so I will just name and talk about Mitch).
Thank you Bochiman, Gyromac and everyone else who commented on this tread. It is true that I was the first buyer here on the BST boards (about 10 years ago) who “threw my done deal prices out the window” and paid my sellers who committed coins to me substantially more money when the Mint product greatly outperformed everyones expectations. And, I do listen to criticism and welcome it; that’s the only way to improve your business model. And, I don’t consider this work at all- yesterday I spent 5+ hours on the phone alone talking to just 2 board members about their gold coins. I had an 19 hour total “work day” on a Sunday! My enjoyment yesterday chatting about coins was not measured in dollars and cents.
It’s important that deals on the BST board get honored both ways between buyers and sellers. In the case of these silver privy coins, I did not place delivery time limits on board members for the coins I committed to buying. I just didn’t want board members having any pressure on them to deliver. Now, with the First Strike deadline less than 2 weeks away, I am still owed a ton of coins and if I don’t receive them soon, I will lose a ton of money on these coins. They are already trading up to 30% less than what I agreed to pay for many of them. It’s ok- I’ll eat these expected losses. I had no conditions on delivery - now if the delivery falls anywhere in the spectrum of reasonableness it’s a good delivery in my book. Obviously, a delivery to me in 2021 probably falls outside that spectrum.
The failure of this particular board member (who I do not recall doing any or very much past business with at all) to honor his done deal with me on the gold coin was very disappointing to me even outside the issue of purely dollars and cents. First, I believe I agreed to pay this seller more money than I paid anyone at that time for that particular coin. What greatly disappointed me was the cavalier attitude of simply ignoring a done deal because the seller purportedly found a better price days later for about 10% more! Yes- just 10% more! Not 50% or 100% more which shouldn’t matter to those who honor their done deals, but you get the point. I will be in touch with whomever is in charge of these message boards these days at PCGS in the next day or two and discuss the situation. The integrity of BST transactions is the key.
Finally, a large % of the deals I do with board members here are “Joint Venture” deals where I grade the particular coins, sell them off and simply strive to net for the board member more money, sometimes substantially more money, than if they sold me the coin directly. I view these types of deals as “win-win” especially because if, and when, the value of coins rises (such as these gold privy coins) the sellers can share in that upside and not regret having sold their coin “on the cheap”.
I’ve been doing these joint venture deals here for almost (20) years now. And, I do not recall one serious disagreement with a board member in all those (20) years. Most importantly, we conduct this business honestly and with 100% integrity. We have systems in place to ensure joint venture coins of customer “x” are not commingled with customer “y”, etc. My son Justin (owner of monstercoinmart) has taken over the daily runs to PCGS and handles this Joint Venture business. He is a scientist at heart, not a “wheeler-dealer” businessman. A bio-chemistry Major from UCLA and an award winning character-actor who had considered a career on broadway. You will quickly discover when we do business together, this isn’t a typical coin dealer business (although I do often wear otherwise unattractive tropical shirts with a stain here and there). You really shouldn’t worry if you need to write me to talk about a mint issue (which gives me a chance to introduce my joint venture deals to you) rather than see that I post “$500” to buy a coin, my competitor then posts “$505” to beat me out by $5 and newbies sell to him. I have been there and done that on these boards in the years past. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

You can still get First strike after the cutoff date as long as the coins are still in the original shipping box from the mint showing when it was shipped to the original buyer. I'm sure you know this as an insider but doubt a lot of folks here knew this.

PCGS has made it clear in the past that they will not get involved in private transactions on the bst. Maybe an option going forward for you on coins over a set amount of value would be to do a digitally signed contract between you and the seller like when purchasing a car or house. I don't think you have any recourse with this seller based on what you have posted for any losses you may have if you had their coin presold to another client.

This isn't the first such a story I hear, it's really sad how unethical some people are, I am with all others who would like to know who this seller is so we don't deal with them...
BTW, I actually got 3 gold coins, I could have sold them for 10k profit each, instead I sold them on 1k profit per coin, since I committed to sell it to that buyer on the agreed price before the deal went live.
I had people tell me how crazy I am & that I lost 27K...
My response, I actually made 3k profit in just a few minutes, so I didn't lose anything, I may have been stupid locking in such a high value coin for such a low price but as an observant Jew & as a normal ethical human being I don't see how I can break my word.
If my commitment is worthless why did I commit? just to be able to bad mouth the buyer if he wants to back out but I can back out when I want?

I can’t believe the person you sold them too didn’t throw you a bone and give you a few extra $$. I understand a deal is a deal but come on man!!
Just worth pointing out that will be the case if everyone honors the deal. Often in such a situation there is someone else up the line and on. In which case Truecallers buyer can't just throw "extra $$" if the same is not being done for them.
TrueCaller... of course, I know nothing about your prior deals, but I assume you might have wanted to speak with me concerning your future deals. If that is the case, here is a phone number for you, or anyone else wanting to speak with me ... (310) 598-2330.

I just had to say to jazzmailman...
As Jimmy Buffet says.. it’s 5 o’clock somewhere! 🍸 🍺
The sun is hot and that old clock is movin' slow and so am I
Workday passes like molasses in wintertime, but it's July
I'm gettin' paid by the hour, and older by the minute
My boss just pushed me over the limit
I'd like to call him somethin', I think I'll just call it a day
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a Hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
Well this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon and half the night
Tomorrow morning I know there'll be hell to pay, hey, but that's all right
I ain't had a day off now in over a year
My Jamaican vacation's gonna start right here
If the phone's for me, you can tell 'em I just sailed away
And pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a Hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve, but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
I could pay off my tab
Pour myself in a cab and be back to work before 2
At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder
What would Jimmy Buffett do?
Funny you should ask Alan
I'd say, Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a Hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve but I don't care
Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a Hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve but I don't care
He don't care
And I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere
What time zone am I on? What country am I in?
It doesn't matter, it's five o'clock somewhere
It's always on five in Margaritaville, come to think of it
Yeah, I heard that
You been there haven't you
Yes sir
I've seen your boat there
I've been to Margaritaville a few times
All right, well that's good
Stumbled my the way back
Okay, we just wanna make sure you can keep it between the navigational beacons
Ha ha ha, between the buoys, I tell you
All right, well, it's five o'clock, let's go somewhere
I'm ready, crank it up
Let's get out of here
I'm gone

I want to personally thank a number of people/organizations who assisted me with resolving the issue I had this past week with one of my committed buys. First and foremost, I want to thank James Sego (JMS Coins). James navigated through this difficult situation and reached common ground between himself, myself and the original owner of the coin in question in an amicable three way resolution of the matter.
Second, and equally important, was Mark Feld. Mark assessed everyone’s position in the matter and made an independent evaluation of what a fair resolution would look like to all sides. His wisdom, rivaling King Solomon, was religiously followed in the end by all parties and, without question, was equally fair to all. If Mark ever needs a night job, he should sign up to be an arbitrator in commercial transaction disputes. Thanks again Mark!
Third, the Profession Numismatic Guild (“PNG”). James is one of the Directors of PNG and PNG was gracious enough to weigh Mark’s recommendation for a global settlement of the issues and issue an informal opinion to myself and James on the equitable nature of the proposed settlement in question.
Yes, there was a great deal of energy and hard work put in towards ultimately reaching an amicable three way resolution of this matter. But, what is important to know here is that every dealer/dealer organization who looked at this matter takes very seriously the responsibilities of being a fair minded and equitable trading partner in the close knit coin community we all engage in business.
Finally, I want to thank the individual board members who offered their thoughts and comments regarding this matter as well as PCGS for having this wonderful buy, sell, trade board available for all of us to do such easy and honest business together.
Again, thanks to everyone involved.

I am still at heart a collector and this is something I want to collect!
again just my 2 cents.
Id like to know who the board member is.......That took back the deal... I will not do business with such a person..
Sorry for that typo... this is a RENEGING SELLER ALERT.
I will be back to you on the issue of naming this member.
Wondercoin

It always comes back to bite greedy people in the a$$ !
PM sent.
I do a lot of business on the BST here. Please PM the name of the person who reneged on the deal with you so I can avoid him. Thanks.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Hi,
I am not here often so I am not very familiar with the messaging system here, In any case I'll try to call you soon.
Mitch and TrueCaller — Just an FYI that it looks like TrueCaller posted on your “wall” versus sending a private message.
Mitch — When I look at your wall, I see multiple users who have done the same thing.
Call literally anytime... when you “work” at least 16 hours a day, 7 days a week as I do, the odds are good you can reach me! Lol.

edited to add... very nice 1 1/2 hour phone call with TrueCaller. Look forward to any future business together.

I'm ready, crank it up
Let's get out of here
I'm gone

You are a most honorable man and you certainly have my respect.

Mitch,
Last call here tomorrow is 5:00 PM. The natives are going to be restless. Closing our plant early today to disinfect as two have flue like symptoms. We will be closed until Monday to see how it plays out.
everyone have a great Thanksgiving.

I was wrong and regret my actions.
Cheezhed. I am impressed with what you just did. It took courage to do that and also showed humility. To be clear, it is nothing I asked you to do. You posted that entirely on your own. While you can’t go back and change the beginning, you can start where you are and change the ending. Thank you for that post.

I second Mitch's comments.
Bottom line, integrity paid off, as it always does. It ALWAYS creates much more business in the long run, vs a short term "FU" attitude. One and done is not a business model I want any part of.

If you want to do business on these (or other) coins, please send me a PM now or call me nearly 24/7 at (310) 598-2330. This is my Skype phone number where you can call my Beverly Hills, CA phone number and it will ring through to me wherever I am in the world. I travel the world working on coin deals, selling coin collections for estates (including probate estates) and testifying as an expert witness for the U.S. Dept. of Justice (or anyone else needing a professional Court approved numismatic valuation expert). Roughly half my time over the past three years has been spent in Asia assisting with a large coin estate, and very successfully completing a trial as a numismatic expert witness for the U.S. government.
I work with my son Justin, who is the owner of “monstercoinmart” on eBay. Justin handles the processing of the coins on a daily basis we do a deal on (and can meet you in person in CA if you desire) with the precision of the scientist he is. Justin graduated with a Science degree from UCLA in Bio-Chemistry a handful of years ago.
I always try make fair deals to both of us. I am not in this for “1 coin” or “1 deal” - I’m looking for long term mutually satisfying business relationships. I sold a board member a sub-$300 coin as a first transaction and it led to the better part of $10,000,000.00 in life-time business thus far! That’s what I hope each deal, however large or small, can end up as.
Thanks,
