2002 D Sac $1 PCGS MS68 on EBAY

I just listed the first 2002 Sac to grade MS68 by PCGS on Ebay.
I hope I am not going to get too much trouble for this but I figured the Sac collectors would want to know.
Auction ends 7/8.image

I tried to set up a link. Didn't work! The auction shouldn't be hard to find.

A "Pop One" coin is the exception!
Congatulations! These are next to impossible in MS67 let alone in full MS68.
Tad of Supercoin will be shocked when he gets back from camping and hears about this coin.
    Congratulations!

Once it sells, would you mind telling us your source?

My take on the final discussion was that as long as it was in the title that it is an ebay auction it was alright to list definite Registry quality coins. As this coin is pop #1 with only 1 in MS67 I figured it is of enough interest to the forum to be listed here. If I am wrong and I get a bunch of flack for this image . What can I do?

What a nice looking coin... Watch listed it, now let see what it fetches... Any guesses???
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Congras! You are one lucky guy! The first of a condition rarity always gets the most $$$$
Smart of you to sell it asap, since in a few months, they will be going for a few dollars
in that grade when the mint improves the quality and the pop soars!

I don't collect moderns, but anyone with a pop 1 coin like this is always welcome to post. This is especially true given that it is not something you do habitually. Nice coin!

How many mint sets did you search through, to find this?

"Linked for the viewing audiences pleasure"

dbldie55: Why "kiss" this "collector"? Why aren't you spewing all your BS about how this coin is utterly worthless and the winning bidding (I mean "loser" bidder) will have nothing but a worthless piece of plastic. Is there some club or something between you "collectors" that only permits you to attack a dealer's coin??? You do realize you lose all credibilty on these boards by your obvious inconsistency, don't you? image Wondercoin

The collector is not claiming the coin is anything other than the first one graded and may be of interest to Sac collectors. He also said he would link it but did not know how. Should I have called him stupid for not knowing this, or just made the link? Why should I render an opinion when he did not?

You will not find me bidding, as it is not worth the opening bid to me. What it goes for, and what it is worth in a year, we will wait to see.

All of my opinions are mine. No one needs to share them, and I do not care if you do or do not. I will not change my views for anyone, and would not expect anyone to change theirs because of me.

Fair enough and the next time you "render an opinion" on a modern coin when the seller of a coin says nothing about its value, I will remind you of your clear position image Wondercoin.

I'll be watching this one and will not be surprised to see this one hurtle well over the $750.00 mark.

Would this be considered a shill bid?? Please do not bid on coins that you have no intention of getting stuck with. I may be out of line to express an opinon like this.. but why not let the auction run and see what it fetches for collectors who are serious about owning it.

"Helping" a fellow member is for the purposes of "bumping" up the price is against eBay regulations and can get the seller and the bidder (the shill) suspended.

For the record... I have no intention of bidding on the coin but I guess it fetches about 650. With the problems with the first batch of Sacs someone might see this as a bargain.
HAVE A GREAT DAY! THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!!
  • At $110.00 I would count myself LUCKY, not STUCK!
BTW, I just bumped it up to $202.50, and this is NO shill!

That is not a shill bid. A shill is a bid, made in cooperation with the seller (or by the seller with 2 accounts) with the intention of trying to get more money out of someone else. If you bid, and are willing to pay the bid if you win, it really doesn't matter whether you want the coin.

I would have thought that a bid of $110 was a safe bid considering what people pay for these things (the 67's went for over $300).

Last I looked it was over $150, so I guess the point is moot.

I have a question for the crowd...

When a collector submits coins for grading with the hope and/or expectation that something will grade high so that it can be immediately sold, is that person really "dealing" coins? image Wondercoin.

It was a little humor. If I could possibly get it for 110.00, even I, who only buys classic coins, would consider myself very fortunate.

Wow -- congrats!! A mint set, I presume?

As I said in another post, glad to see there will be some nice 2002 Sacs to collect, it was looking grim for a while there.

Unless someone else spent a grand besides me, it was a D mint coin. Time will tell, the D mint pops are usually lower than the P mints, but a 2000 D is certainly not worth a grand, however a 2001 D is worth more than that. I suspect the 2002 D MS68 coin will be available for less, in this case I admit to letting my oversized alligator ego overload my hummingbird sized wallet, I wanted the first one slabbed 68. Mark

Mark: I have a great idea to possibly turn your possible loss into a better position - ask Rick M. to relabel your holder "FIRST MS68 GRADED". Sure, it would be only plastic, but a neat collectors item nonetheless worth at least $10 to even those who hate modern coins image Wondercoin.

Wow, that's the most wrong I've been on predicting future pops that I can remember! OTOH, it's nice to see the mint sets actually produce some "mint" Sacs for a change. Wish I had bought some -- was so discouraged by the rolls that I didn't bother.

Ah well, glad nobody unloaded 100 coins on me when I was offering to buy MS67's for $200. image
    • wondercoinwondercoin Posts: 16,972 ✭✭✭✭✭
Tad: I am selling MS67(p) coins today at $35 and MS68 at under $200/coin!! I also have a few 2002(d) Sacs in MS68 available and admittedly they are much tougher coins. But, $200/coin down to $35 would have been as brutal as my AOL stock buy earlier this year image Wondercoin
