Sad news. He was one of the most intimidating pitchers of all time, he threw the ball with everything he had. The kind of guy batters dreaded facing. He mowed down 17 batters in game 1 of the 1968 World Series in one of the most brilliant performances in baseball history.

He was a fascinating pitcher because he was just so intense, he threw everything into his pitches. You just knew he was going to try his damnest to strike you out.

Being a Cardinals fan I am saddened that Mr Gibson and Mr Brock did not have one last opening day appearance in the famed red jacket. Can we just go back in time to 2019 and skip over 2020?

Lou Brock and Bob Gibson gone within a month! Sad.

Here is my signed 1959 Topps Bob Gibson rookie.

    sad news

my baseball coach in college pitched on the cards when Gibby did. he was a relief pitcher, he said on the days when Gibson pitched they didn't even put their jock straps on, they knew they weren't going in. they used to bribe the kids in the bullpen to go get them hotdogs with baseballs on those days.

he must have been something to see pitch

    RIP

Really sad news. An underrated all time great. The Hall of Fame has lost a lot of legends in the last year. Just missed seeing his career but loved watching him on ESPN classic when they showed the ‘68 Series.

He was baaaaaad!! The inside of the plate was HIS and be careful if you ever tried to take it from him.
