Joe Montana Rookie, break or keep?

I would leave clean MINT 9 packs sealed. Odds of finding Montana in a single pack are 1:35 and odds it will be MINT 9 or better are less than 2% based on all my 1980s breaks. That said, would be fun to watch a rip....good luck if you break them. Hoping you beat the odds!

Keep sealed. Been there, done that. Almost always regret!

Thanks for the input, we will just put them away for now. I believe Montana cards are going to continue rising in price.?.

They are starting to go down a little bit but I feel the days of $700 pre C-19 are behind us. I think it'll settle between $1700-2200.

If the Montana rookie is going to keep rising in price, those packs will also keep rising in price, despite the 1 in 875 chance there is of being a mint or better Montana in those packs (based on JordanGretzkyFan's numbers above).

What are packs going for in PSA 8 or 9?

Got these psa 9 for $199 each, I don’t see any 10’s which is interesting

Keep in the slabs. The odds are way against you getting Montana in either packs. If you are looking to open some 1981 packs just buy raw packs from BBCE for around $50 a piece.

Break!! You can always get another graded pack.
