Cards as investments

So I would like people input on this and which rookie/waxbox/packs would be good to look at? For some reason when I look at sports cards like on ebay and around the web I see people adding good investment which is new to me as when I use to look at cards no one ever put that word there. Like me when I read on say as ex some brought 83 topps wax box baseball for $395 and now it's close to $1k I don't know what it is but I really feel happy for that person. Today I just brought 81 topps football wax box from a friend for $1,300 wating for him to mail it out.

i would stick w quality sealed/wrapped wax and well centered blue chip hof rookies. stay away from the flavors of the week & hyped stuff, starting out at least.
best of luck on the '81 box. hopefully he's a good friend.

Also I came a cross this what you think? https://goldcardauctions.com/best-sports-cards-to-buy/#Ty_Cobb_1909-11_T206_BAT_OFF_SHOULDER_350_buy_on_eBay The one thing I don't get about that list why have Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck and not his bowman tiffany?
