Gretzky O-Pee-Chee Rookie KSA 8

I bought a Gretzky rookie recently. It is graded a KSA 8. I've seen some older articles about crossing over to PSA. Anyone had any recent experience sending KSA to PSA or BVG? Thanks

Send it to PSA for crossover; anything 6 or higher would be a good result. I have had KSA cards crossover with even grade and as low as 2 below. You have to spend a lot more time than usual examining the specific card example. It is certainly possible to get KSA cards that will grade -1, -0.5 or even but it takes a good deal of research and studying the card to do it. I don't buy the KSA ones in the first place if I don't expect at minimum a 2 grade decrease, but I also only buy them when I can get a purchase price that is in the -3 to -2 range on them. Not sure how things are anymore for KSA cards more recently graded, but for ones from several years ago, there was a very noticeable difference in the cross equivalent potential based on which one of the KSA offices/locations had done the grading. One location, the Atlantic office, was a bit more generous than the others, and the grader there was eventually let go back in 2011.

KSA is totally hit-or-miss. You'll never cross over KSA to PSA grade-for-grade. Honestly, if the card looks anywhere close to the technical grade, then your best bet is to crack it out and submit it as a raw card.

There are eras from KSA when you should expect a full 2-grade deduction when submitting to PSA, but there have been times in that company's history when they are bang on with PSA grading standards.

KSA wasn’t centralized and there were different grading standards with different offices. The closest comparison I can think of is with GAI. There are undoubtedly finds to be had, but 9 times out of 10 you should be very pleased with a 2 grade drop from KSA to PSA. You should expect altered cards. Especially if you are looking at popular rookies.
