PCGS End of Rattler holder population reports-Ebay

Hi all-I have no financial interest in the auction linked. These are population reports from late 1989 that are right at the end of the rattler holders being issued. The ebay seller is a great guy I have consigned with in the past and seen at local shows. Population reports from this era don’t show up very often—bid high and bid often!

Very cool stuff, and thought I was interested. However, someone is WAY MORE interested than I! Holy smokes, I can't help but think the seller is going to be very pleased.

If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

I just hope whomever wins it publishes the pop reports.

if you look at the 4th image, page 11 from the June 1st, 1989 issue, it gives the number of coins graded and the total value of the coins graded.

some quick math gives an average value of almost $1,100.

They did not slab 100,000 Silver Eagles a year back then. :)

Anyone know when the 1st PCGS pop report was published??

Wow. So it looks like there were something over a million (1.076M) Rattlers at one time. Probably more like 1.2 or 1.3 million, since the last pop report shown is 6/1/89 and the PCGS Museum says the Rattler was last used in September 1989.

Successful BST transactions: EagleEye, Christos, Proofmorgan,
Coinlearner, Ahrensdad, Nolawyer, RG, coinlieutenant, Yorkshireman, lordmarcovan, Soldi, masscrew, JimTyler, Relaxn, jclovescoins, justindan, doubleeagle07

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't no optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.

    My mind reader refuses to charge me. . . . . . .

It’s too bad that old population reports aren’t posted anywhere as PDFs, but unfortunately that would probably constitute a copyright violation.

I have the August, 1989 pop report. I brought it to the last PCGS Members Only Show for show and tell. During the show, the dealer set up next to me had a rattler with Barber quarter in MS60 and said "This may be the only MS60 for this date as it is a grade not used very often"- I may be paraphrasing a bit. I said, I can answer that. Based on the August, 1989 report, it may be.

Edited to add: My August, 1989 PCGS pop report is not for sale.

It's such basic raw data it'll get published eventually as a pastebin or something. More the better. Would bring down prices significantly if people could quickly confirm the huge inventories out there of certain holders.

Having a report from Sept 1989 and seeing the price someone is willing to pay for the auction so far, I don’t feel bad spending $35 on Ebay seven years ago for mine.

Likely only if the seller gets permission or wants to violate copyright laws.

Well geeeewhiz!-about 5 hours left on the auction and it has broken $1,000. Should be really nice for the seller and consignor and the ebay fees if there are a few people all dropping monster last second bids in the last couple minutes.

Someone REALLY wants those. I'd like to gather a bit of info on my Rattler Jeffersons but not that much.

    @BrettPCGS

Is there any way you would publish online all of the archived population reports?
