Post Office almost “mushed” my Express PSA submission.
I dropped off a PSA "Express" submission today at the post office. Priority mail, prepaid label.
I wrote “Express Service” on all 4 sides of the box, as I saw on the PSA website. The clerk said I shouldn’t have wrote that and asked if I was sure I only wanted Priority mail. I said yes. Priority only.
I drove 2 blocks away and had a bad feeling. I went back and asked the clerk if he had covered the sides of the box. He said yes, and showed it to me. He put Priority Mail stickers on all 4 sides of the box, covering the “Express Service” I wrote on the sides for PSA to see. I asked him to remove them. I said that "Express Service" was for the recipient to see.
I saved that disaster, but I hope nobody else there tries to cover up what I wrote.
Only time will tell now.
Maybe I should have wrote “PSA Express Service”.

That is why I use Fed Ex!
I never write the service level on the outside and get quick loggage. I don't like to have any kind of identifying info on my packages that might help someone figure out what is inside or how much it may be worth.
Well I guess I screwed up. I only wrote express on the 2 big sides not on the edges. Mailed from SC on Monday and they scanned it Wednesday. 2 day across country, can’t complain about that,

Changes coming in Steve’s latest monthly message... instead of writing on the package, the new submission process will include a barcode that has to be put on the package for PSA to scan. Much safer that way, assuming it doesn’t also say “valuable PSA cards inside” on it

As @burghman mentioned, here is the new PSA process for labeling packages. I like it as long as long as the label does not tip off the contents in any way.

NEW SUBMISSION ID LABELS
Another new operational improvement to announce – next week we’ll be introducing Submission ID Labels! The days of writing the service level on the side of your package are over! Now when you print out your online submission form, you will also be asked to print out a Submission ID Label to affix a barcode to the side of your package. This new process also supports sending in multiple submissions in the same box. When your package arrives at PSA, the barcode on the submission ID label will be scanned, and you will immediately receive an email alerting you that your submission(s) have arrived, with details on what comes next.

I write the service level on all six sides of the box.
Much better imo than writing things all over the box.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I agree that the new bar code system is an improvement on the old system. I also like the other announced addition of an online system for certain customer service issues like label errors and damaged cards.
99% of the people in this world wouldn't know what "valuable PSA cards inside" means. They do know what the word "valuable" means though.

Yesterday, I saw a UPS driver with about 9 packages all stacked in his hands. He was delivering to a house and no one responded. He then proceeded to they backyard fence and proceeded to heave the whole lot over the 7 foot fence. I did hear glass break. The first thing I thought was "imagine if that was boxes from PSA"
Thank you for all the replies and the new information about the Submission ID Label instead. That will be so much better.
I'm just hoping my Express order gets there safely, identified correctly, and logged on time.
...and my post was in no way bashing the Post Office or the clerk. He was just doing his job and wanted to avoid shipping confusion. The post was more of a "heads-up" for others who use USPS for shipping cards. "Mush" was a reference to "Eddie Mush" from "A Bronx Tale". Not squashing the package.
