50s and 60s Baseball and Football Card Collection

Hi all,

I recently came into possession of an old card collection from mostly the 50s and 60s. Nothing is in mint condition as this belonged to a kid in the 50s and 60s, but everything is in pretty good shape. I just wanted to get an idea of what I could be looking for as a price for the whole collection or if anyone knows anything about some of my better cards, some of which are pictured individually in the photos. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Nice lot. There may be some valuable post cereal/jello short prints - so don’t assume the “commons” are a buck or two - several could be worth more. You have three stacks of those. I don’t see much worth grading, except the 1963 Leaders cards look like candidates.

If you are looking to sell as one lot, don’t accept less than $2 card. Lots of low ballers out there.

Kiss me once, shame on you.

Nice group of cards. You can most likely find a buyer here for that lot.

Welcome and thanks for posting these pictures.

Mickey Mantle is the prize you are looking for in any 50's-60's card lots as he will commend the most money even in lesser condition cards. After that you have the Mays and Clemente and of course any major rookie cards that may be in the lots you posted. As mentioned, these are not mint condition cards but rather collector grade meaning they were well loved cards but of course, valued much less than mint condition cards will be. As presented in these pictures, you will likely find a dealer to offer you a few hundred dollars as they will tell you they have to make some money off the deal and since there is no big cards that will get them a huge chunk of their money back, they will give you a lower offer. A collector will take a chance and sight unseen based on these pictures would likely give you offer closer to $350.00 for the lot as these will stay in the collectors collection and maybe sell a few off to recoup their investment. I don't know what your thoughts are or if you have had offers but seeing what I am seeing I would likely offer you $300 bucks for the lot, again, that is based on the pictures you are showing here.

I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
  • For the $300-$400 range I’ll just keep them for my own collection for the time being. I appreciate all the feedback, I really didn’t even know where to start as far as figuring out worth.

I don't disagree with you keeping them for your collection. Honestly, you need to probably go through each card and look it over especially those post cereal cards as there could be some hidden gems in there. Selling the cards individually would likely give you the best return for your money but you will likely be left with a pile of cards that are unsellable unless you sell the remainders as "a lot" of cards. Besides that, it will take you awhile to sell everything off but if you have patience that would probably be your best bet to move them and get top dollar.

I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
  • Here are the top names from my Post cereal cards, as mentioned before. I have quite a few duplicates of these.

  • The Post cereal cards need to have the complete black outline showing to bring decent prices.

That is a solid lot of Post cards. Star power!

  • Nice! The most valuable card you've shown is the 1960 Mickey Mantle. Look for the key names (Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Clemente) but the real jewel in this age range would be a Pete Rose rookie.

I have a Rose rookie pictured in the collection.

That’s actually his second year. His rookie is in the ‘63 set and he’s one of four “floating heads” on the card image.

Nice cards. You might want to get some of them graded by either SGC, PSA, or Beckett.

    Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
