The coins are often graded very liberally from what I have seen.
Were any of these coins graded by PCGS?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
I like the ones that are not numerically graded and just say uncirculated
Mine isn't numerically graded (Brilliant Uncirculated)...I like the coin. Don't know too much about the hoard/collection. The cowboys on the insert are cool.
Edit - here's a link to an article about Ted Binion and the hoard. Probably better write ups out there, but this gave me some insight.

Thanks guys, keep 'em coming! I saw that there were 3 "tiers" of grading done : numeric, non-numeric (like BU), and just "authenticated". From what I read the whole hoard was sent to NGC so they probably threw the questionable ones in a big pile to be authenticated, and if the nicer ones had any iffy features maybe they didn't give them a numeric grade?

this was a money maker for NGC and a money pit for anyone buying them. I have quite a few and aside from the label notation none stood out as anything other than average.
@keets do you remember what kind of premium was there for these upon release?
How were they marketed/sold at the time?
Sometimes you can find a nice one. I used to own this 64; it was accurately graded and attractive.
it was accurately graded and attractive
green, melike!!
Is green a common Binion color? The only dollar I have with green on it is my Binion. Something in his vault at the casino?
I don’t like these pics, but it’s the best I can do at the moment...
@ShaunBC5 I wouldn't say green is common on Binions but I have seen a few. In general, many are untoned or neutrally toned. I've only encountered several nicely toned ones (unlike some other hoards that produced more toners).
This was the only other toned Binion that I owned (yes it also had some green and the photo is from an old auction before I learned about taking videos of coins):
@U1chicago that's really beautiful toning! What ever happened to that one? I like the "idea" of having some Binion hoard coins, but not if they're going to be a problem or I have to rely on my grading skills to ensure a fair price.

Owned a few in past some nice some not / YMMV
The MS 65 I resold on eBay. The person I outbid missed the end of the auction but still wanted the coin, so I sold it to him for a small amount over what I won it for (he liked it more than me and I was happy that he could own it). The MS 64 was from a show and I sold it after acquiring a new toned Morgan for my set (I liked the Binion connection but upgraded since I found a coin I liked better).
As for finding one for yourself, look through all the options and compare them to non-Binions in the same grade. That will be a good start in your journey of finding a nice example. And many are quite affordable (under $100), so even if you make a mistake, it won't be super costly (even the so-so coins sell just based on people wanting an example from the hoard).
They were buried underground in a semi truck trailer in a vacant lot right in the middle of down town Las Vegas. I read that they did it in the middle of the night. One way to avoid taxes and greedy folk. Unfortunate ending for him.

Some are quite attractive and others are just ugly.
Most are common date Silver Dollars.
They are cool from a historical standpoint.
They receive 'hard' and 'soft' grades, such as MS 64 or BU, respectively.
They were graded and pedigreed by NGC.
I owned one once but sold it. I'd like to get another, sometime.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

As I'm looking into it further, I'm seeing that NGC did a bunch of different things with them. There are at least two different batches which have two different websites listed on the labels (I don't advise trying the URLs!), and looks like they also did "prestige" sets of three peace dollars of the same year in different grades:

Yes there are at least two different labels and some combo sets with several coins (another is the dime, quarter, half, and dollar set)

Some less common sets are the medallions, like this:

The casino chips:

And multiple coins in one slab, like this:

or this:

Fantastic label, green like money - sold out of my Binion coins, miss them. Would attract attention at shows.
Thinking about putting together slab box of them 4fun.
How the heck did this one escape the torturistic nature of mint bags?
PCGS does not recognize the Binion pedigree if you wanted to cross it over into a PCGS slab. Some nicely toned coins came out of this hoard that had been located in Binion's underground vault.
This is my only example currently. I’m told it has to do with Pink Floyd but I can’t confirm that. Genuine.
